With the redevelopment of our North Melbourne facility completed and our clinic and adoption centre in Campbellfield established, we would like to announce the appointment of Frances Mirabelli GAICD as Interim CEO. Frances brings extensive leadership experience, having served as Interim CEO for several not-for-profit organisations in the veterinary and health sectors. With her strong skills in strategy development, communication and stakeholder management, Frances will guide Lort Smith in this next part of our journey, as we build on our mission to deliver compassionate care for Melbourne’s pets and their people. We are excited for this next chapter under Frances’s leadership and remain committed to our vision of being the most admired and respected animal hospital across Melbourne and Victoria.

Today on National Wildlife Day we’d like to highlight our contributions to a vital wildlife health study, carried out by Wildlife Health Australia. Dr Tristan Rich, Lort Smith’s Unusual Pets and Wildlife Veterinarian, working in collaboration with our Wildlife Rescue partners, has lent his expertise to the disease surveillance study. The information captured from around Australia aims to better understand disease and will contribute to the overall national picture of wildlife health. Last year saw some big changes at Lort Smith that we are delighted to share in our 2023 Impact Report, featuring inspiring stories from our hospital, clinics, and Adoption Centre. Our North Melbourne location underwent a significant update for most of 2023.
