It’s estimated that, today, they both receive residual royalties of between $40 - $60 million every year. EXPENSIVE HOBBIES - Jay Leno’s hobby automobile collection consists of 1,600 vehicles (the largest by quantity) and is valued at an estimated $52 million. Ralph Lauren’s car collection consists of 70 automobiles, containing the rarest and most desirable Ferraris, Testa Rossas, Jaguars, Alfa Romeos, Bentleys, Bugattis, and Mercedes, and is valued at an estimated $350 million (the largest by value). I'm pulling the plug. I'm getting ready for retirement. 20 years in the navy and 18 years at Northrop Grumman Corp. I'll work until the end of the year and then start enjoying the rest of my life. I was an electronic technician in the navy and that skill helped me get a job at Northrop. Some helpful tips: 1- Buy a house when you are ready. Your mortgage will eventually be less than rent. 2- Get a degree if you want to move up to management or get promoted easier. 3- Put more than the max matching contribution in your 401K or TSP. 4-Open a brokerage account (Fidelity, Vanguard, etc.) invest some money in the stock market and learn to be your own broker and manage your money yourself. 5-Save some after tax money in a ROTH IRA. This is just some stuff that I did.

Today marks a special day at Varna as we bid farewell to an extraordinary employee—K.S. Fernando—who has been with the company for a staggering FORTY TWO years and 3 months! I had the privilege of speaking to him on his last day, and the wisdom and nostalgia he shared were nothing short of awe-inspiring. (Somewhere along this long period his name had gotten changed to C.S. and to date everyone calls him C.S.!) When K.S. Ferando first joined Varna, he earned a daily wage of just 12 Rupees! He had seen this company evolve from manufacturing cellophane and wax lamination to the diversified business it is today as well as been a part of the many ups and downs that every company faces. He’s worked for Varna longer than I've even been alive! That really hit me hard and I felt an immense sense of gratitude towards him. The beaming smile on his face was a testament to how fulfilled he felt about his tenure. His joy was infectious, making it abundantly clear that he had no regrets and was looking forward to this new chapter in his life. I don't think anyone would have asked him to retire but his own maturity and understanding of life had brought him to the understanding that he now wanted to spend time at home and pursuing new endeavours. His exact words to me were 'It's time for the next generation to come in." A Lesson for Employers! In a world where it’s becoming increasingly rare for employees to stick with a single company for even a few years, K.S. Fernando's dedication is a timely reminder to us. We, as employers, should never take our team for granted. The wisdom and stability that long-term employees bring to a company is invaluable. K.S. - your loyalty, dedication, and warmth will be missed. We couldn’t have asked for a better colleague and mentor for the next generation.
