By reflecting and forming a results-based roadmap, Adam managed to put Bigmore back on a growth trajectory within 6 months. This meant doubling his business, and acquiring specialist businesses and talent to grow his portfolio of services to better serve his clients.
Three years in, Adam has an ambitious, accelerated 5-year growth plan, with a clear focus and drive and a fantastic team and structure in place to achieve it.

My name's Adam Nettleship. Business is big, more associates and we are independent financial advisors. So all things finance, pensions, investments, mortgages, wills, probate, employee benefits, we we met shortly after the first lockdown of COVID. Which was challenging periods, lots of uncertainty business wise and that kind of triggered more thoughts about what we were doing in the business we wanted to go. And at the time we were suffering some financial hits as a result of COVID and were slightly loss making. So again COVID uncertainties but also we were looking at how to grow, how to change things in future but without an awful lot of clear direction. So plenty of good. A good intentions but perhaps not the the structure to take it forward. I liked that Sanjeev was quite direct. It was clear what what he would do and how he would do it and it was very performance results driven which is something that appealed to me. So yeah I I knew what to expect. If I didn't get it then then I knew it wouldn't have worked. So I I sort of set myself some growth targets for the business over sort of the next three to five years and and and effectively I said. If he can get me to those results faster, it would be worth every penny invested in the programme installing a a sort of a track and measuring of our financials. So all our business financials from from new business to to income and having a clear snapshot of where the business was at any given time and then using that to drive our performance up rather than thinking we were doing OK. We we knew specifically at any given point whether we were or not. It was probably the number one reason why I accepted to go ahead. Which was someone to hold me to account. So I I couldn't drift. I'd have to deliver what what I'd said I would do. Because even though there's people that will challenge me internally, I'm not sure if it's the same level of challenge as somebody completely independent from the process. So they they won't be a yes man. They will tell you what what you need to hear whether you like it or not, which which certainly helped us. I think we saw some results straight away in terms of attitudes certainly and then. Within three to six months there was there was changes structurally in the business and six months onwards we saw some big financial improvement. Yeah, I I've always been reasoning aspirational, but I feel that there's a there's a clearer direction and there's more confidence that we'll we'll get there. The, the focus and the set aside time to work on the business and its development is now ingrained in what I do. Before it was ad hoc and therefore could easily slip. So turnovers increased nearly 100%. So we've grown dramatically in a very short space of time in, in 12 months. So we wanted to double and double again. It was double in two years, double again within five years. We've we've done the first two year target in one and now hopefully we can we can do that again the 2nd target in half the time again. So we were actually slightly loss making when we first engaged. We've gone from that and net profit is now as a percentage infinite because it's positive but fully back on, back on top. Ahead of target. So I'm a massive increase, acquired another business, we've set up a new business, we we've exceeded profit targets. And then on the personal wins, I managed to buy a company by my wife, a horse and buy a new Tesla all in the same week. I'm a more effective business leader and therefore I am more comfortable and happy and ham and and everyone benefits according.
Success is not down to one individual. It's not down to one single action.
It's about consistent movement. And a team and culture that supports and enriches each other and their work. Thus, driving the business forward.
Growing businesses need strong leaders.
