News from up North: In response to Duluth's increasing demand for affordable housing, a collaborative effort between LISC Duluth, the City of Duluth, and Duluth HRA has led to the creation of the Duluth Housing Trust Fund. This initiative seeks to diversify and improve housing options in the community, with a strong focus on affordability. It includes programs for unit rehabilitation, infill development, and a flexible multifamily fund. Resources are allocated based on project size, with the City of Duluth funding projects up to 20 units, and LISC supporting those creating 6-20 units from a $12M pool. This program aims to bolster affordable housing, enhance safety, eliminate blight, and promote neighborhood pride, all while aligning with LISC's mission of creating inclusive, resilient neighborhoods of opportunity. https://lnkd.in/ghQbxUws

CRP Affordable Housing and Community Development, in collaboration with The Pacific Companies, is thrilled to announce the successful closure of financing for the Heber Del Sol Family Apartments – a visionary 48-unit affordable housing venture nestled in the heart of Heber, California, which is in Imperial County. With a total project cost of $22 million, this undertaking marks a significant milestone in our mission to provide secure and enduring affordable housing to the hardworking farmworker community and their families, whose incomes range between 30-50% of the local Area Median Income (AMI). We would like to thank RBC COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT, LLC and Citi Community Capital, whose contributions encompass LIHTC equity and permanent/construction financing, respectively. The California Municipal Finance Authority, as the Bond Issuer for this project, and PACIFIC SOUTHWEST COMMUNITY DE, serving as the managing general partner, have played pivotal roles in this success story. Furthermore, we express our appreciation to the California Department of Housing & Community Development (HCD) for their invaluable contribution through the Joe Serna program and to USDA for providing a $1.9M loan and rental assistance for all 48 units. We would also like to thank Raza Development Fund for providing an acquisition and predevelopment loan for the project. CRP Affordable takes immense pride in its role in crafting affordable housing that is not only financially sustainable but also environmentally responsible, all while fostering a socially enriching environment for its cherished residents. #affordablehousing #housing #castellan #crpaffordable #california #californiahomes #housingcalifornia #housingamerica #housingforall #urbanplanning #development #housingprices #realestate #castellanrealestatepartners #castellancapital #finance #property #housingjustice #economicdevelopment #sustainability #construction #newhomes #community #project #imperialcounty

A £4 million Property Activation Fund launched recently as part of the Goole Town Deal programme is already attracting interest from businesses, property owners and community organisations. The grant funding scheme aims to encourage property owners, developers and tenants to carry out improvements to buildings in Goole town centre and bring empty or under-used sites back into use. It’s one of eight projects allocated a share of the Town Deal funding that Goole will receive from the Government as part of its ‘Levelling Up’ agenda. The Property Activation Fund will make the town centre a more attractive and appealing place to invest in and do business by restoring, refurbishing and, ultimately, reinventing buildings that are empty, under used or in a poor state of repair. https://lnkd.in/e_U-Th3G

📣 Attention, housing providers! Sign ups are OPEN for our new, free community bonds workshop! In our work throughout the CMHC Housing Supply Challenge, we've heard from housing organizations across the country that: 🏠 They need funding for pre-development costs, like land acquisition, design costs, and legal fees — and there isn't much of this funding out there 🏘 They want to raise money on their own terms and timeline — they're tired of waiting on external decision-makers to determine whether they can move ahead with important projects 🏡 They want their financing to better align with their values Meanwhile, community bonds are already helping housing providers across the country raise flexible and values-aligned financing. It's time to spread the word even further. That's why we're offering the first part of our process, an in-depth workshop, for free to the first 20 affordable housing providers who sign up! Registration will be open until spots run out, and workshops will begin in September 2024. Hume has purchased a 3,160m2 block on Jennings Road and will look to build up to 20 townhouses offering both Social and Affordable rental housing. PEXA and Housing All Australians are bringing real solutions to Australia's housing problems. Affordable Housing Register is go!
It is with great pride that we announce that, together with Housing All Australians, we are building a digital Affordable Housing Register to help solve the nation’s housing crisis. The register, which is an Australian first, is designed to help tackle the nation’s housing crisis by unlocking private capital to fund affordable housing projects, nationwide. With input from local government and the property industry, PEXA and Housing All Australians are spearheading the register which will serve as a centralised platform and repository for recording all affordable housing commitments, while providing governments with the ability to transparently monitor the compliance of all stakeholders through the process. PEXA Group Chief Executive Officer, Glenn King, described the register as an important step toward ensuring transparency on affordable housing commitments.
