Head of Regulatory & Corporate Affairs at Unilever Sri Lanka ||•|| Commercial Representative in the Food Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Health ||•|| Vice Chairperson of the Industrial Association of Sri Lanka •
This is a team of front-liners at Unilever Sri Lanka who act as the first point of contact with regulators, colleges of medicine, government ministries & departments, intergovernmental & non-governmental organizations, business chambers, industrial & trade associations, PR agencies, editors and the base keeps on multiplying in the most interesting ways.
Together the team helps sustain Unilever and its brands by guarding: regulatory acceptance & compliance of every Unilever product on shelf; truth & intergrity of every promise which our brands communicate with consumers; national importance of the many social & environmental programmes that Unilever does in the country; and the goodwill & cultural sensitivity of everything that we say as a Corporate.
Whilst the individuals come from contrasting scientific, legal, creative and public administration backgrounds, there is harmony in the way Unilever Sri Lanka works with every external stakeholder because of a common thread of fundamentals that bind the team together. They are, respect for the greater good of the country and for co-existence in the market; empathy towards persons behind designations and the other person's point of view; and being innately in sync with the Sri Lankan value-system. These fundamentals help keep Unilever's eyes on its commitment to ensuring that the country wins whenever the corporate wins.

Thank you Hajar Alafifi Laadel for your knack for bringing functions together.
Have you ever wondered what your purpose is? At Unilever, we believe that to unlock the full power of a purpose-driven organisation, we need to unlock the power of purpose in our lives. Purpose is the key to accelerating our growth and deepening our impact at a personal and professional level. Research shows us that those companies that can successfully develop and embed a founder’s mentality aligned with a clear organisational purpose are best able to control complexity as they grow.
Over the years, we have helped over 50,000 employees discover their purpose via internal purpose workshops.
We spoke with some of our purpose workshop participants to understand what purpose means to them.

A number of large programmes of civil society or government, heavily depend on front-line cadre for on-ground execution. These programmes can create a much larger and sustainable impact, if they are able to develop and deploy an effective cadre (often known as CRP – Community Resource Persons).
This playbook (https://lnkd.in/gRJRG8HU) is an attempt to cull out the fundamental processes and learnings on how to recruit, develop & retain a capable front-line cadre. It is a step-by-step guide with combination of content, ppt, videos, and resources. It is organized in a clickable format and designed in a modular fashion so that user can navigate with ease and deep dive into sections of their interest. This playbook was developed with collaboration between OxfordSM, PANI and Hindustan Unilever Foundation (HUF).
We invite you to:
1) Review the Playbook and share it with others who might find it useful
2) Use it while designing programmes, adapt and modify as needed based on local needs and context
3) Help us refine it further - provide your valuable feedback and/or contribute to improve any of the sections. This is a live playbook and we will be happy to enhance it further based on your experiences and learnings. You are also welcome to host it on any of your platforms.
Feel free to reach out to me OR Anantika Singh for further information.

Doing well by doing good!
What does this really mean?
Is this a pipped dream or there is a way to strike a sweet balance between the two seemingly contradictory dimensions?
It is definitely not easy. But not impossible either. When responsible growth is an integral dimension of growth that an organisation strives to deliver (others being consistent, competitive, and profitable!), then collaboration, innovation and longer-team thinking become essential ingredients of success.
One such example is Hindustan Unilever Foundation, run by Shraman Jha. If you are interested to know more about making a meaningful impact through your work, look no further.

✨ Unilever: From Humble Beginnings to a Global Powerhouse.
In the ever-evolving world of Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), few companies have a story as remarkable as Unilever. Let's take a moment to reflect on how Unilever started and how it has grown to become a global leader in sustainability and innovation.
🌟 Humble Beginnings: Unilever's journey began in the late 19th century when the Lever Brothers, William and James, started producing Sunlight Soap in the UK. At the same time, in the Netherlands, Margarine Unie was making strides in the margarine business. These two companies, united by a common goal of improving health and hygiene, merged in 1930 to form Unilever.
🌍 Global Expansion: Over the decades, Unilever expanded its portfolio and geographic reach through strategic acquisitions and organic growth. Today, Unilever boasts over 400 brands in its portfolio, including household names like Dove, Knorr, Lipton, and Ben & Jerry's. Their products are available in over 190 countries, touching the lives of billions of consumers daily.
💡Innovation and Sustainability: Unilever's commitment to sustainability is at the core of its business strategy. The Unilever Sustainable Living Plan, launched in 2010, aims to decouple growth from environmental impact while increasing positive social impact. They have made significant strides in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, promoting sustainable agriculture, and enhancing the health and well-being of people worldwide.
📊 Economic Impact: Unilever's economic footprint is vast. With a workforce of over 150,000 employees globally, the company plays a crucial role in job creation and economic development. Their innovative products and ethical business practices have consistently delivered strong financial performance, making Unilever one of the most respected names in the FMCG sector.
🤝Social Responsibility: Unilever's social initiatives are equally impressive. From improving hygiene and sanitation through their Lifebuoy brand to empowering women entrepreneurs with their Shakti program in India, Unilever is committed to making a positive impact on society.
As Unilever continues to lead the way in sustainable business practices, its journey from a small soap manufacturer to a global powerhouse serves as an inspiration to us all. Here's to celebrating Unilever's legacy and looking forward to its continued success and positive impact on the world.
