Happy Juneteenth from LSG!    Looking for some ways to honor this pivotal moment in American history? Check out the list below for some local DC opportunities to celebrate, educate, and reflect today:    ➡ Anacostia Community Museum’s Juneteenth Freedom Celebration – The Anacostia Community Museum will host a day of live music outdoors, including performances by Noochie, Too Much Talent Band, and Dupont Brass, plus kid-friendly activities including Double Dutch. Make sure to also stop inside to the see the museum’s latest exhibition, “A Bold and Beautiful Vision: A Century of Black Arts Education in Washington, D.C., 1900-2000.”   ➡ Freedom Day Black-Owned Marketplace – National Harbor will host events all day with black-owned businesses, including food and clothing vendors. There's also a free Sip and Paint event at 1 p.m. Make sure to stick around for the Juneteenth Cultural Showcase from 5-7 p.m. too, featuring the Eleanor Roosevelt High School step team, Prince George’s Poet Laureate, and more.    ➡ Juneteenth by the Prince George’s Parks Black History Program – Go to Watkins Regional Park for a day filled with creativity and inspiration. Celebrate African American history, culture, and achievement by enjoying a festival of food, local artists and artisans, and live music. Bring your family and friends for an afternoon of celebration and education!   ➡ The Annual Scotland Juneteenth Heritage Festival – Scotland AME Zion Church, a historically black church off Seven Locks Road in Potomac, is celebrating the 100th anniversary of its founding and reprising its Juneteenth Heritage Festival for a second year in 2024. Spanning five days and 8 venues, the 2024 Festival is set to captivate with 23 events across the county.
