Your ideal candidates don't trust the recruiters you're working with. (some recruiters) "They've all been spamming me" "I just don't trust these random recruiters to get me the best offer" "I was wondering if I can get better representation than this cat fight" These are all messages I received from a great candidate I know well in IAM this morning. She'd been approached by at least 4 recruiters all about the same opportunity. All with different messaging, all offering different salary levels, none of them knowing about her market etc... Trust is a core component in the IAM space So think about trust in your organisation & those who represent you. 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐀𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐬 - having sat on both sides of the fence, the answer 'we don't partner with external agencies' always baffles me. The benefits are endless... 1. 𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡..... databases, passive candidates, talent pools, long lasting relationships (I still speak to candidates I placed in 2017) just to name a few. 2. 𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬.. Yes you read that correctly! While there are fees associated with using external agencies, the time and resource spent utilising them is likely to make you better off. Also, if you buy cheap or dont make the right hire for your business you buy twice! 3. 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞 . Its likely we are speaking to 100s of candidates a week in a specific market. We talk about trends, projects, salaries... always absorbing a lot of information. 4. 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬!! This is a massive one, working with agencies ensures you are receiving applicants who are aligned to the skillset you are looking for! Rather than receiving a load of applications for a role online where no one meets the brief... a recruiter ensures the pool is always relevant. “Our internal team needs the job for 3 months before we use an external supplier”. How likely is it your internal recruiter makes this security hire? Ask them: ▶ What are your areas of expertise? ▶ How many jobs do you work in parallel? ▶ What are your priority hires over the next 3 months? ▶ What is your average time from job brief -> placement? Once you’ve given them the full brief, ask them to explain it back to you. Now, I’m not bashing internal recruiters. We’re just figuring out the likelihood of you getting what you want, quickly. If you don’t have a specialist internal recruitment team who understand cyber security, then those 3 months are most likely wasted… plus the next 4-8 weeks it takes for you to assess and onboard a specialist supplier. That’s 5 months gone plus a 1-3 month notice period... so an August-October start date. Can’t wait that long?
