Agree start by identifying the problems to be solved, by persona. Don’t deploy analytics for the sake of analyzing. Each domain has different problems and needs and require different solutions. One size does not fit all. So workshop each domain: safety, sustainability, reliability, and production. Software is not enough. You don’t have the REAL-TIME data you need for prediction because a lot of your data is collected manually infrequently. You must build out a foundation of sensors to automate data collection as analytics apps go in. OPC-UA connectivity is the ‘secret sauce’ that make multiple apps work together. You don’t have all the sources of REAL-TIME data. “External applications” includes all the existing systems in your plant and more will come in the future so connectivity with external apps is key: OPC-UA. Should not have to develop apps for common plant applications. buy readymade apps for pumps and heat exchangers etc. Specialized apps have depth of functionality for the domain.
