You know that episode of The Office where Michael goes to the high school job fair with just a sheet of Dunder Mifflin paper? No company information, no products, no preparation in true Michael fashion 🫠 He means well. He wants to share his passion for the paper biz with everyone who walks past the Dunder Mifflin booth. He wants to invite a dialed in audience to consider a new perspective. He wants to give value and show people the magic that happens when they work together. Instead — because Michael doesn’t give anyone a reason to pay attention — the Dunder Mifflin booth blends into the background and the day ends with no new recruits. 👉 Trying to book guest appearances on relevant, aligned podcasts without a strategy is Michael Scott at the job fair. 👈 No direction no preparation = no interest. To fix that, you’ll need to consider: ✅ exactly who you’re trying to reach ✅ where they already listen to pods, and ✅ how your expertise fills the gap Then come up with an outreach strategy that connects you with hosts who are excited to have those conversations. Waiting to be noticed or guesting on any podcast that will have you isn’t targeting your audience. All the pieces of podcast guesting strategy take thought and effort, but once you’ve got direction and preparation… It’s not hard (that’s what she said).

The best thing to come out of a job fair, ... was not a job, but a creative and digital jobs training program. 😲 Here's why: I signed up for the TikTok Creative Academy by Catch22 after finding out about them at a local job fair and I'm so glad I did! In short, their mission is to support young people with digital skills and training to help them get closer to a creative job. 📲 Here's 5 things I found super helpful about the program and why it's my must-recommend for anyone aged 18-24 (not in education or employment) and looking to get a head start in the creative sector: 5. Insights about the creative industry from a professional with over 20 years of experience! Janelle, our facilitator was super supportive and always open to answering any queries. 🗯 4. Individual tasks that helped me identify my top skills (how to market myself and my experiences) guidance on CVs and portfolio and personalised feedback on developing my cover letters. ✍ 3. Detailed paired and group tasks that I can now use as work samples and to demonstrate important soft skills such as collaboration and timely delivery of tasks. 📒 2. Created a comprehensive marketing strategy with a team as part of a creative design brief set by TikTok and delivered the final pitch to seasoned creative professionals! 🎤 1. I stood out at a virtual job fair with this strategy! 💼 I made my own background that cuts the intros and tailored it to the industry that the job fair is for. Added a QR code with my resume, and had a link in hand to copy paste in the chat. Did I feel "cringe" at first? Yes. But my small talk felt more straight to the point. It was interesting to see them a bit surprised, but then what I had hoped would happen, happened. There were multiple people in that fair, But I gave hiring managers talking points to start with. My intention was to get more people interested quicker without cutting anyone off or having that initial first small talk that can sometimes be a bit awkward. "Oh! I see you got your highlights behind you." I thought I was insane for having this idea and implementing it, but I'm glad I did. As for the background color, I chose dark green to help contrast easily with the lettering, and well, most good things are green. If you don't want to use green, use dark blue. Then, wear a top that is a lighter color to stand out. Every step of this search, I'm learning that being bold, within reason, is the thing to do. I've been enjoying finding creative ways to execute it. Pair strategies like this with confidence in your voice, and you'll likely stand out from the crowd! 😉 I hope this helps!

ITCS IT-Jobmesse (21.06.2024). Super hyped job fair... and my naive, broken hopes 😢 For some reason (I don’t know exactly why, I’m already quite old 👴 and not very naive) when I heard about this job exhibition festival, I thought it was a really interesting and worthwhile thing. I’m well prepared. Wrote 5 pages of text including questions and answers to the most likely situations. I rehearsed up to ten times so that everything was perfect and went there full of hope. 🥇 It turned out that juniors without work experience are feared there like zombies or the bubonic plague virus. 🧟♂️ 🧟♀️ But I wonder who they (the companies) expected to see here? A crowd of Seniors? 🙊 😯 🙀 Of course, no one said that out loud (that juniors without experience are not welcome here), but it was felt between the lines. Here’s a typical conversation. Me: hello, you are interested in junior web developers.  Representative: Yes, of course. Tell us about yourself. I am telling) Representative: Very interesting. You are well done. Me: let me leave my resume. Representative: Why is this not necessary? Send it to general mail Me: Will you get it? Representative: no one of our recruiters Me: But how will he understand that this is my resume? That person with whom you just talked for 10 minutes and who was told that your resume is very interesting  Representative: (awkward silence) 😳 And the protection against viruses (sorry juniors) was so reliable that even such a persistent and purposeful person as me could not break through it. Another company representative tells me: Dude, if you had experience, there wouldn’t be any questions. I wanted to answer him: dude, if I were a Senior with many years of experience, I wouldn’t be at this job fair. 😁 But any experience is still a useful experience. For example, after this job fair, I realized that I need to be a little ironic about my situation and the job search in general.

Show off your company's opportunities and make networking feel like a breeze. Express gratitude: If candidates thank you after the event, respond promptly with gratitude. It's not just good manners; it's like sprinkling positivity confetti all over your professional connections. 🎉 Facilitate further communication: Encourage candidates to slide into your LinkedIn DMs. Make connecting and inquiring as easy as ordering pizza online. 🍕 Turning job fairs into a networking party – one connection at a time! 🥳 #JobFairJoy #CareerAdventure #FEED #Putsomerespectinourname

Common misconception: You can't geofence an employment ad with Meta's platforms. August 2019, that was the case sure, it seemed that was ripped away, but let me tell you...we've been conducting geo-fenced special-ads-category employment ads at Job Fairs, competitors' yards/DCs/Terminals for about 2 years without a hitch.
