The attached message is one I’ve found myself reading over and over the last few days. While this rejection came shortly after I was informed that I was one of nine candidates still standing of 172 total applicants considered, something about the warmth behind the words cushioned the blow. Of course, I’ve been through my fair share of robotic and emotionless emails, but messages like these keep me moving forward. They keep me encouraged, and they keep me believing that there’s a reason why I’ve been able to advance as far as I have with multiple, incredible entertainment companies. With any luck, I’ll be able to fully invest in one that provides me the opportunity I’ve been pushing so hard for. However, the fact of the matter is that these last few interview processes have now ended after several grueling rounds, interfacing with panels of managers, C-level executives and numerous other decision makers. Needless to say, it’s taken a significant amount of energy and effort, with each requiring extensive planning, investment and preparation for possible relocation. I continue to seek out opportunities where I feel I can challenge myself and build on the experiences I have, but I feel the need to ask my network for some help. If there are any entertainment industry roles anyone in my network can refer me to that could use someone with my background, I’d be extremely appreciative. To give a brief glimpse of what I can bring to the table, I’ve been a theatrical director for several years, developed sales professionals and set sales records while working for a handful of nationally recognized brands, and have worked to support hundreds of concerts and festivals over the years in a variety of different capacities, ranging from ticketing to venue operations to production to marketing to crowd/brand management. The last few roles I’ve interviewed for were in Nashville and South Carolina, and while I’d still very much consider roles along the east coast, my preference would be to either remain in the northeast or relocate to Florida at this time. Happy Wednesday LinkedIn! Hope this finds you well. Thought to give an update: I’m unfortunately still unemployed since October 2023 and currently looking for full-time roles in music-entertainment. Open to New York as well as LA, Miami, Nashville and international cities like London and Toronto (can stay in another country for six months without work visa). 🌎 🏙 Once again like few months prior, I wanted to share my application deck (this time, for the Director - Marketing, Global Replay Strategy role at Republic Records), as it’s been something I’ve been working on for a while now. Wanted to make it substantial and concise as much as I can due to my sheer love for this label’s roster across the board. Feedback on the deck greatly appreciated, looking to constantly improve in whatever aspect. ✨ A few highlights: Collaboration with previous work places 💻: It’s very important to build productive symbiotic relationships in the industry as we are all in this together to make stars shine. In my deck, I pitched for several collaborative ideas with Endeavor for Republic Records talent. This includes Post Malone & Morgan Wallen x PBR, Metro Boomin’ x WWE, Ariana Grande x NYFW, Taylor Swift x Hall des Lumière, IG Collabs (where there's business crossovers) and more. The potential of crossover storytelling and migrating audiences is there, just needs a nudge to the right direction. Deep-Diving On The “Why” 💡: we get so engrossed in becoming a superfan for an artist that we often forget why we love them in the first place. To me, it’s their songwriting and the stories they sing (both from their personal lives and what they observed/imagined) That should reflect in the campaigns you make. As mentors and executives I have met often said, “Have an artist first perspective.” An exercise doing this would be making case-studies on album anniversaries and their legacy in the industry. You can potentially implement that into any subject across entertainment, whether it’s your favorite movie or athlete to find that “why.” Then it just clicks. No Director-level role in sports should be paying less than six-figures. Period. Full stop. 🛑 I don't care what your organization is or does. Anything less than $100K (USD) for a Director-level title means you are either 1) woefully below market rate or 2) over-titling the job and this is actually a manager-level role.

For those trying to go back, top Hollywood executive recruiter Jamie Waldron has advice. “I think they should continue to network and hang in there because it will get better,” he said. “Meet whoever tells you that you should meet this person or that person, network outside of your comfort zone.
