Parentification Series - Part 1 Parentification is one of the 2 most damaging things that can happen to a glass child when they are growing up. Let’s look at what it is: ☄️Parentification is a situation where a child or a teenager is forced to take on adult responsibilities and adult roles within the family - things a parent would typically do. This happens with glass children because the parents are overwhelmed and they lean on the child too heavily. The glass child comes to believe that they, not their parents, are responsible for a host of things are far too heavy for them to bear. And if there isn’t any intervention for the child, it has super serious consequence in adulthood which I’ll go over in the last video of this series. What are the adult responsibilities? Typically 2:  ⛑️Medical and  🤕 Emotional.
