I’m a big fan of Hannah Ritchie If you see her new book “ Not the End of the World” being used by climate skeptics, deniers or Cornucopians to support delay of #climateaction or #energytransition, please point out her comments in this excellent interview https://lnkd.in/gjAxJP_c For example: - #climatechange will be “catastrophic.” 2C is bad; 3C is really bad. - there is a viable pathway to net zero emissions. - she is very supportive of climate activists. - improved human well-being can occur with virtually no FF combustion & less environmental impact. - redistribution of wealth is difficult, but needed for developing world (rather than expanded FF). - although planetary boundaries are not always clear, there are planetary boundaries. #sustainable #lng #oilandgas #Decarbonization #EnergyEfficiency #ClimateSolutions #EnergySecurity #EnergyPolicy #ESG #NetZero #HeatPumps #StrandedAssets #renewables #efficiency #AbPoli #CdnPoli

We welcome ClimatePartner to the World Maritime Forum: Copenhagen! Denmark, Copenhagen | February 27 - 28 | 2024. #worldmaritimeforum ClimatePartner exists to secure a liveable planet by making Net Zero a reality. We do this by supporting companies of all sizes to take ambitious climate action. We invest heavily in software development to allow us to measure, set targets and help reduce carbon emissions at scale, and we combine this with climate experts who consult companies in their decarbonisation journey. Additionally, we are driving project development with multi-million-euro investments into nature-based and social-impact climate projects as an important contribution to climate action. This will enable the reduction and removal of hundreds of millions of tonnes of carbon emissions over the next few decades, helping to regenerate natural landscapes, improve biodiversity and impact local communities around the world in the process. Our approach is one that centres around building trust though transparency, and to ensure integrity sits at the heart of the voluntary carbon market for years to come.

🌍 Significant milestone in climate action! New update: Climeworks has inaugurated Mammoth, the world's largest Direct Air Capture (DAC) plant, marking a pivotal advancement in our fight against climate change. With the capacity to eventually capture 36,000 tons of carbon annually, Mammoth underscores the promise of carbon removal technologies in mitigating greenhouse gas emissions. However, it's important to recognize the challenges ahead. DAC technologies have faced criticism for their high costs, energy intensity, and scalability concerns. Moreover, there's a valid worry that emphasizing carbon removal could shift focus away from urgently needed efforts to reduce fossil fuel emissions. Nevertheless, Climeworks remains steadfast in its commitment to driving down costs and making carbon removal more accessible. By aiming to achieve a cost of $100 per ton by 2050, they're laying the groundwork for broader adoption and affordability. Stuart Haszeldine, a professor at the University of Edinburgh, underscores the significance of Mammoth in our climate endeavors. However, he rightly points out that Mammoth's capacity represents only a fraction of what's required to meet global climate goals. In essence, while Mammoth's inauguration is cause for optimism, it's merely a piece of the puzzle. Continued innovation, investment, and policy support are essential to unlocking the full potential of carbon removal technologies and making substantial strides in our quest for a sustainable future. #ClimateAction #CaptureTheCarbon #GreenTechRevolution #Eco-Innovation #ClimateHeroes #SustainableFutureAhead # #CleanAirMission#GreeningThePlanet#CarbonNeutralNow
