A couple of weeks ago we launched BH at the Association Of British Orchestras conference. Essentially a 'Red Button' service for performing arts streaming, BH is intended to make the musical content of performances more accessible to a new audience who might otherwise be put off by unfamiliarity with the programme. Either integrated into our concert recording and broadcast services, as a remote production alongside existing live streams or as a way or repurposing archived recordings, BH takes the workflow from our corporate productions and brings it to the more traditional style of broadcasting currently favoured by arts organisations. I know this ad is incredibly annoying, but it’s also very bloody clever & here’s why… It’s impossible to stop watching. There’s something about someone shouting at you that automatically triggers your brain to pay attention. It’s annoying. But it also captures & holds your attention. Safestyle UK used a similar approach with their memorable ‘You buy one, you get one free’ double glazing TV ad. Compare The Market also did something similar with that annoying Opera guy. Incredibly annoying. But impossible to get out of your head! This approach isn’t for everyone, but it’s interesting. What do you think?
