Isn't one of the most interesting aspects of humanity's greatest inventions the personas of the people who envisioned them?
Here are some facts about Vitalik Buterin, after watching the documentary "Vitalik: An Ethereum Story".
1. Vitalik Buterin was a kid suffering from a speech delay, and spent most of his time on his PC. His favorite software was Excel. ( 🤯 )
2. As a teenager, Vitalik sought alternative lifestyles. He lived in a tent as part a anarchist community. This experience helped him to shape his perspective on decentralization and freedom.
3. The idea for the Ethereum network architecture emerged during a walk in nature.
4. At the network's early stages, Vitalik added five co-founders because "they seemed nice and wanted to help."
5. Vitalik never wanted to be "the face of Ethereum." The original plan was to release the whitepaper and let "smart people to develop the idea."
6. In response to concerns about the negative implications of the network, such as funding terrorism, Vitalik stated, "Einstein's discoveries led to the creation of atomic bombs. But would we ever give up those discoveries?"
I find it amazing to see how Vitalik's persona aligns incredibly well with the Ethereum network values of collaboration and decentralization.
And thank you Collider for inviting us to this this screening, including popcorn! You know whats good.
