I love making predictions—it’s even better watching them come true. One of my big predictions for this year was that we would eventually see TikTok launch its own version of Amazon Prime Day for TikTok Shop, with creators playing a significant role. 🛍️ That prediction came true as TikTok announced Deals For You, a shopping event on July 9th that will rival Prime Day and other shopping events from Walmart and Target. During this event, brands like L'Oréal, NYX Professional Makeup, Too Faced Cosmetics and more will offer discounts on thousands of trending products. Creators will be a key part of this event, going live and sharing short-form videos highlighting their favorite products and best-sellers. Discounts alone aren’t enough to get shoppers excited—you need creators to curate and help shoppers cut though the noise. I often share where I see the future of the creator economy and social media as a whole going in my weekly newsletter. Love how spot on you were with this friend. How do you think this will affect prime day?

It's interesting that TikTok is diving into the shopping event space - your prediction was spot on! But I wonder if this move dilutes their core identity as a content platform. With creators now acting as salespeople, do you think this could potentially impact the authenticity of their content?
