Linde CEO Sanjiv Lamba co-chaired the Hydrogen Council's annual meeting in Berlin and led the discussion with industry leaders and policy makers who continue to demonstrate a commitment to collaboration and action on the hydrogen economy. Over 200 CEOs and C-suite executives explored practical solutions for unlocking demand, creating a framework for global trade and accelerating investment in hydrogen. Great to join this year’s Hydrogen Council International CEO event and hear from Minister Robert Habeck and EVP Maroš Šefčovič about their commitment to support the build-up of the hydrogen economy. Following Shell’s own investments in REFHYNE I in Germany and Holland Hydrogen I in the Netherlands, we agree with the vital need for collaboration between the private and public sectors. Policy certainty will help drive business confidence to invest and together enable the industry to grow and support a lower carbon future. #hydrogen #poweringprogress 

Europe has voted. And although the election results of extremist parties in some European countries are very worrying, there is also good news. A large majority of Europeans voted for democracy, for openness, tolerance, and a sustainable, innovative Europe. This is an important sign because there are big challenges ahead. One of the greatest is the transition to a sustainable, green economy. Green hydrogen will play a decisive role in this industrial transformation. Yet, recent studies show Europe is in danger of losing the race to industrializing hydrogen technologies, albeit being a global innovation leader. That is why we need an ambitious agenda supporting green hydrogen for the upcoming legislative term: #1 Industrializing Innovation: Europeans are technology leaders in hydrogen, but we must get better at bringing sustainable technologies to market. A new industrial deal should complement the ambitious goals of the Green Deal to promote entrepreneurship and innovation. #2 Shifting towards Gigawatt Scale: Hydrogen is key to decarbonizing processes from producing steel to fueling chemical plants. To create the corresponding European green hydrogen economy as soon as possible, we need to step up our ambitions. It is time to move our hydrogen projects from Megawatt to Gigawatt scale. This should also be reflected in the EU’s support and funding efforts. #3 EU Funds for the European Hydrogen Value Chain: Countries across the globe use strategic investments to strengthen their domestic hydrogen value chain. This one-sided market support creates distortions on a global level. That is why we also need to prioritize our local value chain in EU efforts and keep our industry competitive. #4 Tackling the Implementation Gap: The roads from project planning to execution are too complex and too slow. We need to prioritize projects, speed up approval processes, and digitize bureaucratic procedures. The coming years will be decisive to convert the EU’s green technology leadership into sustainable economic and job growth. The European institutions should make it a political priority to help create the green hydrogen ecosystem our industry will need very soon. My most important message in today's keynote at the #euhydrogenweek: Germany remains committed to a quick ramp-up of green hydrogen! This message was important to deliver as I have heard many concerns and questions today regarding the ruling of Germany's constitutional court on the German debt brake. One thing I can say: The Federal Ministry for Economics and Climate Action has proven that we can deal with suddenly changing circumstances in the energy crisis since Feb 2022 and we are still aiming at a steep ramp-up of the hydrogen economy in Germany and Europe. Vetyklusteri - H2 Cluster Finland Chair Simo Säynevirta presented the Finnish approach to building hydrogen economy at EU Industry days yesterday with BalticSeaH2, Estonian Hydrogen Cluster and Spanish Hydrogen Association (AeH2). ➡ Key takeaway: Finnish hydrogen economy is not happening only on paper - Finland is already actively and concretely building it.
