Here is the best Interview Secret that I've used for over 25 years. This one most people never think about, but will help you Get a Job. Interviewing is hard. We tend to prepare as hard as we can. Most of us prepare like this: ✅ Study into the early morning. ✅ Gain a paragraph of certifications. ✅ Have the Best resume and LinkedIn profile. ✅ Practice your hacking labs until your eyes burn. ✅ Practice mock interviews with multiple mentors. These things are extremely important to have perfected. However, you are missing one thing. The people you are interviewing with are human. They are individuals just like you. Just as you are preparing, they are preparing also by: 1. Cleaning the area behind them, so their WFH office looks clean. 2. Finding a clean shirt to put on, because they work WFH. 3. Removing the cat that was sitting on their keyboard. 4. Reminding their kids that they are on an important call. 5. Putting the dog outside because it's barking like crazy. 6. Trying to catch their breath before the call from all of the above. Just like you, they live busy and stressful lives. Like you, they are just human beings. With that said, stop playing Super Professional and just be you. Humans are simple. They want to be around people they enjoy working with. Who wants to work with someone who doesn't smile and crack a laugh? 70 Percent of the reason you will be hired is because you are likeable. 30 Percent of the reason you will be hired is for your technical expertise. You can teach technical. You can't teach someone to be likeable. Interviewing can be as simple as this: 1. Do the best you can to answer the questions. 2. Be yourself. 3. Smile 4. Laugh 5. Be Likeable. So now I ask the bold question. ❓❓ Are you likeable? If so, can they tell when they interview you? A smile goes a long way.
