Co-founder @ Oliva | Helping businesses keep their teams above the line through the world's best on-demand therapy, coaching, and workshops 🧠
It's still surprising to me how many mental health companies lack a senior clinical profile on their exec team.... While having a trained therapist on the founder or leadership team is a good start, it's just not enough. Oliva's Chief Clinical Officer (Dr Sarah Bateup) and Head of Care (Polly Haselton) have sadly had to help clients through extremely difficult moments, some of the worst you can imagine. This requires not only solid protocols—but also solid experience. It's not something you can 'wing'. If you're assessing mental health providers for your team, I encourage you to meet their most senior in-house clinical profile. The extra due diligence will be worth it. If you'd like a list of objectively-written questions to ask, feel free to ping me. #mentalhealth #clinicalprofile #healthcare #healthtech #healthtechstartup

Meet Kristen Lee, MA, LPC (She/Her), MA, LPC – a licensed therapist at BetterHelp! Kristen went to college thinking she wanted to become a lawyer, however, she quickly decided that therapy was a better fit: “I have always been fascinated by human behavior, and have been the go-to listening ear for people close to me… so I figured, why not sharpen my skills and make a living in mental health?” Kristen has these words of wisdom for anyone who is interested in starting therapy, or already doing it: “Therapy is a personal journey. It is not your friend’s journey, your parent’s journey, etc… it is your opportunity to sort through anything holding you back, so that you can design whatever life you have longed for. Don’t get caught up in diagnoses. Focus on learning how to work through, or manage, your symptoms so that life is fulfilling, instead of draining.” Her biggest piece of advice for her clients? “Ask yourself, ‘What does this achieve?’ whenever you have a decision to make… If we take a second, pause, and ask ourselves that question, we are a lot more likely to make the choice that gives us long term satisfaction, versus instant, impulsive gratification followed by guilt or remorse.” Kristen’s favorite part of her job as a therapist? “Watching my clients’ progress. I have clients come to me for so many different reasons, however, watching them work through their difficulties while blossoming into their ideal functioning self, is incredible to witness and be a part of.” Thank you for devoting your career and skillset to supporting your clients, Kristen! We’re thrilled to have you as a part of our team. 💚 #therapistappreciation #therapistspotlight #mentalhealth #therapy #LicensedProfessionalCounselor #LPC
