I agree with Roger Martin. We should raise the bar on what we label "strategic". --- “If you're making a decision that's going to change your competitive position, that's a strategic decision...If you're making a decision that's not going to change your competitive position, it might be important, it might be big, it might be expensive, but it's not strategic." -Roger Martin --- Once again, Roger Martin sums up so clearly what we all see and experience: Everywhere we turn in our respective organizations, we encounter so many strategic decisions, strategic objectives, strategic initiatives, strategic investments, strategic plans, etc. But how many actually impact our competitive position in the market? If we're honest, we resort to labeling all our things “strategic” because we want to be known as strategic leaders and strategic thinkers in our organizations and when we want our business, offering, or initiative to be seen as important and a priority. In conclusion: Before we label something "strategic", remember Roger Martin and ask ourselves "does this really impact our competitive position?" #strategy #becomingstrategic
