I successfully completed a comprehensive course on Alison, "Biointerface engineering: Protein aggregation and Biomaterials". It delved into the complexities of protein- material interactions, exploring how protein aggregation can impact the performance and biocompatibility of biomaterials. It helped me perceive that gaining a deeper understanding of these concepts is crucial for the development of new implants, biosensors, and other medical devices that function within the body. The course highlighted the role of: - Surface chemistry - Wettability - Roughness in protein adsorption and aggregation. It also discussed the different assays used for recognition of these protein aggregates like the Thioflavin- T assay, and analysis of protein residues. Protein kinetics was a significant module of this course, which shed light on the different phases involved, from the initial lag phase to the rapid growth phase and finally the plateau phase. These concepts help to optimize device function over time and tailor biomaterial properties to minimize protein aggregation. This course provided a valuable foundation for biomaterial science and its applications in healthcare. It equipped me with a deeper understanding of the intricate relationship between proteins and biomaterials, highlighting the role of Biointerface engineering in developing advanced medical technologies. #biointerfaceengineering #biomaterials #Alisonlearning

There is a class of materials that have the unique ability to recover from mechanical, thermal, and chemical-induced damage to restore their original properties without external assistance. Known as “self-healing” materials, these substances are a promising area of research in the biomedical field, where they have applications in wound care, medical devices, drug delivery, and more. Only certain substances can self-heal while being compatible with human tissues and the complex conditions inside the body. Our latest research using the CAS Content CollectionTM reveals which materials have the greatest potential for these biomedical advances and which applications have made the greatest progress already.

Happy to inform you that I just finished my Book Project. Its my first book project. This is now under publishing. There is an interesting story about it. When I go for giving my talk at various schools some of my colleagues asked me, why cant you write a book on this topic. But writing a book means the target audience is students. Here its a reference book and so its research students. When we were editing this book one main thing we kept in mind. Translation of the science to reality mainly from our own experience. The chapters are deep but written for anyone to understand written by pioneers in this area. its published by Elsevier. I am sure this will be a true reference book for anyone working in the area of nanotechnology, medicine and drug delivery.
