Hey LinkedIn Fam! 🤗 Alie here! 💁🏾♀️ I just wanted to pop some knowledge into your feed - it's VITAL to have a good work culture, especially for Black Women. 👩🏾💼 Hey, I'm one of those! When workplaces prioritize respect, inclusivity, and appreciation for all employees, it really makes a difference. Black women feel supported and empowered to succeed, which translates into better mental health, improved work/life balance, and happier people. 😊 On the flip side, toxic work environments can be seriously detrimental to mental health and job performance. Microaggressions, lack of support, and discrimination can lead to burnout and all-around unhappiness. 😔 But here's the thing: investing in a good work culture isn't JUST the right thing to do; it also makes good business sense. Companies with strong work cultures have higher employee retention rates, increased productivity, and greater profitability. It's a win-win situation for everyone involved. 🙌🏾

Hey Black HR Society Family, it's not too late to honor Juneteenth in your workplace. Here are some easy and impactful ways to celebrate virtually, fostering inclusivity, education, and compassion: 1. Online Cultural Activities: Plan a day of online cultural activities showcasing Black art, music, and cuisine. Encourage employees to participate by sharing their own experiences and traditions. 2. Digital Resource Sharing: Curate and share a list of digital resources—ebooks, articles, documentaries, and podcasts—about Juneteenth and Black history. Create a virtual space for discussions and reflections. 3. Support Black-Owned Businesses: Promote Black-owned businesses by organizing a virtual marketplace or sharing a list of online Black-owned stores for employees to support. 4. Inclusive Virtual Communication: Send out inclusive and respectful communications about Juneteenth, highlighting its importance and encouraging virtual participation from all employees. 5. Remote Volunteer Opportunities: Coordinate virtual community service projects that support local Black communities, such as virtual tutoring or online mentorship programs. By embracing these initiatives, we can honor Juneteenth meaningfully and promote a workplace culture of understanding, respect, and unity, even from a distance. #Juneteenth #VirtualCelebration #InclusiveWorkplace #HR #DiversityAndInclusion #BlackHistory #CulturalAwareness #HumanResources #phoenixaz #TheBlackHRSociety #DEI

Great article on DEI with a brief section on the importance of strengths-based programmes, particularly to those from minority or marginalized groups. My favorite take is the push for organizations to create top-notch development programs that are open to everyone and focused on helping each employee be their best, including exercises where participants study their successes, give feedback on each other's strengths, and talk about what they've learned. While mentorshio and sponsorship programs are also helpful, the article points out it's crucial to offer these opportunities fairly because informal mentoring often happens through networks that are challenging for marginalized groups to access. So, it's vital to make sure everyone has an equal chance to reach their full potential at work. Thanks to Tanya M. Odom for sharing. #dei #strengthsbasedapproach #professionaldevelopment #unhcr

In the summer of 2020, spurred by the Black Lives Matter movement and pandemic inequities, organizations in the United States and around the world committed to improving diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in their ranks. Today, however, amid economic uncertainty, corporate belt-tightening, and virulent campaigns to dismantle diversity efforts through both court rulings and legislation, the push for DEI has slowed. Now more than ever, it’s time for companies to recommit.””
