Here are 10 reasons for your organisation to adopt the fuller, more comprehensive EAP, as part of your wider wellbeing strategy for supporting your employees. Not all EAPs are the same, as modern EAPs goes further than simply being a 24/7 helpline. The most successful EAP platforms are those that are truly integrated into an organisation, not just promoted through leaflets and posters. If your organisation currently has an EAP that isn't meeting your expectations, then please talk to Life & Progress and compare what we do to what you currently have. Email [email protected]

Supporting Mentally Healthy Workplaces: National Learning Network for Employers Next meeting: Online, 02 October 2023 Will be attended by the Minister for Social Care, Mental Wellbeing and Sport, Ms Maree Todd MSP, who will provide an update on the recently published Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy. This will be followed by a panel Q&A session during which we are hoping to hear from some employers on their experiences of supporting mental health and wellbeing in the workplace. At this session we are looking to hear from a range of different perspectives, and particularly from employers who are early on in their journey to establishing mental health and wellbeing policies. Launched earlier this year, this network meets quarterly and already has over 300 members covering employers of all sizes, and across all sectors. It's a network to complement the Supporting a Mentally Healthy Workplace website which signposts employers to a range of resources and guidance on how to promote and support mental health and wellbeing in the workplace. Following a series of engagement sessions with employers a quarterly peer learning space was launched, a meeting where employers can learn from each other and share experiences of how they are supporting the mental wellbeing of their employees. How do we know when someone needs individualised support? Andrew Fuller introduced the concept of wellbeing as a spiral. It's a helpful visual indicator for our individualised support efforts. Feeling down is normal and most of the time we come back up the spiral quickly. However, once we report being unable to function, this is where the individual may need some assistance to get back to their best. Why does this matter? If we can't function, then we cannot learn and work at our best. Skodel has built this into the reporting framework to track functioning as a key indicator of wellbeing. It is also a key indicator of readiness to learn and work. #wellbeing

Last week we talked about all the different ways you can improve your own health & wellbeing. This week I'd like you to think about how you can introduce the 5 ways to wellbeing into your daily routine. The 5 ways to wellbeing are simple things you can actually do. Connect - with yourself, friends and family Take Notice- of your needs and your surroundings. Be Active- you don't have to get all hot and sweaty, actively take part and show up. Keep Learning - learn a new skill, it's fun! (Last night I learnt how to breathe properly)! Give - yourself a break, be kind to yourself and switch off that phone! When was the last time you got together with your friends and had someone else cook your dinner and pamper YOU? My wellbeing events can be adapted to suit a stress down day in the office, a works night out, a social group, special birthdays and celebrations. But for now here's a ladies Only event. https://lnkd.in/eX7RTvUb
