May I ask.....will you be balancing out your marketing strategy by including some feedback from Opal Healthcare's employees ? If you do, I would suggest you look up 'glassdoor', or 'seek', or 'indeed'. There are a substantial number of reviews relating to 'toxic' workplaces, 'bullying', and unaccountability by management. I personally think it is imperative that any prospective client of Opal Healthcare is fully informed on how some of Opal Healthcare's employees have been, and are still being treated. It is only fair. I know personally, that I would never ever give my business to a company who mistreats their employees. Prospective clients should be given the same choice. Be transparent with your marketing Awaken. Opal Healthcare promotes its values as 'compassion', 'accountability', 'respect', and 'excellence'. That is to the uninitiated. myRx in 3-Months Three months ago, in celebration of World Pharmacists Day, we launched myRx – a groundbreaking platform democratizing online consultations and empowering pharmacists to earn while excelling in their field. Since then, we've embarked on a thrilling journey, actively learning from our 5,000 strong pharmacist audience and iterating at lightning speed. This is important to us because no great innovation thrives in isolation. #APhA2024 reflections (And where does #worklifeintegration fit in…) Connection matters. I may feel tired from early mornings, jam packed days and late nights. Yet my cup is full having spent time with so many passionate pharmacists. If you’ve never attended - sign up with a friend - share a hotel room - start local (at a state or regional meeting) - have fun. Attending a national pharmacy meeting as a state association exec is a different experience than others, but I tried to capture the experience. Five days of posts and pictures - check ‘em out! Important parts of the meeting not included in my activities this year: 1️⃣ continuing education - there were dozens of sessions - I attended exactly 0.5 2️⃣ exhibit hall - most years I make it inside. This year, I didn’t at all! 3️⃣ #worklifeintegration - several attendees asked if my husband or any children attended with me; and no, unfortunately the agenda is too packed for me, it doesn’t make sense. It’s also a long meeting so adding a day on either end is undesirable! It took experience for me to understand which national meetings work best for this (for me!). For others who were in Orlando - what is one word you’d use to describe the meeting and experience? A highlight of the meeting? This is an accurate representation of a leader that leads with the heart. Often, people leaders tend to forget what it is to be a true leader. Being a leader can sometimes feel lonely, but as long as you show up for your team when it matters the most to them, they will be there for you anytime you need them. As a leader, you are an essential part of your team's support system. If they can't count on you, don't expect them to give you their best and be the most outstanding performers. Well done, Cynthia.

A fantastic analogy was made back in April that I came back across recently. It was almost a premonition of what's to come; *I mostly stay silent on Facebook…but here’s something I need to get off my chest. Whilst 60-day dispensing may seem like a good idea….this is the reality. Imagine you go to the pub and have a look at the drink’s menu. You see a beer costs $7.30. You pay $7.30 to the bartender, and you get one beer. Now imagine you go to the bartender and pay $7.30, and they give you TWO beers. Seems like a great deal for you right? But who’s paying for the second beer? Yep…the pub. Imagine if that bartender did that for every customer that came into the pub…you can imagine that pub would quickly go bankrupt. This is exactly what’s about to happen to community pharmacy with 60-day dispensing. The only way community pharmacy will be able to sustain this hit is 2-fold: 1.) Reduce staffing levels which will result in limiting services. 2.) Charge for services that are currently free (sorry Beryl but I’m going to start charging you for deliveries and to check your blood pressure). Whilst 60-day dispensing may seem like a good idea...the effects on community pharmacy are real. Whilst the cost-of-living expenses may appear to decrease on the surface, the payment for what are currently free services will hit patients harder. Patients will need to go back to their GP for simple primary care needs that could previously be dealt with by community pharmacists, clogging up the GP books that this policy was meant to relieve. Bad move Labor. Bad move. (Jamie Pisani - Facebook, 27/4/23)* I've already had patients unhappy to pay for the services we now have to charge for say, "I'll just do it at my GP". As we have happily footed the bill for these free services for so many years it is hard for people to accept that our time costs money and we can't subsidise it anymore. I hope in the 8CPA we can get some recognition for the services we provide. Just a late night though from a pharmie that would like to see better availability in monitoring conditions and efficacy of treatment.
