Success and commitment: Lidl-Trek at the Giro d'Italia Donne 🥇
Congratulations to our Lidl-Trek rider Elisa Longo Borghini for winning the first stage of this year's Giro d'Italia Donne! This high-performance race covers 876 kilometres and includes a tough climb on Stage 7 to Blockhaus peak (The Maiella) at an elevation of 1,680 m. Her team member Brodie Chapman came in third. During Stage 2, consisting of 110 kilometres between Sirmione and Volta Mantovana, Elisa Balsamo reached third place. 🚴♀️
Sport in general, and cycling in particular, has often given women less visibility and recognition. Today, the image is changing and we are proud to be part of this development through our sponsorship of Lidl-Trek. "When I started, my salary was significantly lower and we traveled by van. Today we have a full bus, stay in nice hotels and our races are even televised. Everything is just as well organized as for the men," says Elisa. 🚀
