We continue to write our success story and expand into new countries We are driving forward expansion in the Western Balkans and our international Lidl family is growing: New country openings are being planned, starting with Lidl North Macedonia DOOEL Skopje and Lidl Bosna i Hercegovina. 🇲🇰 🇧🇦 Investment in potential store and warehouse locations has already begun and both countries are establishing local teams – already having more than 100 team members in each country, and more colleagues will be joining them. 🙌 A few insights into the construction work: The first store in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which we initially use to optimize our processes, has already been completed. In addition, we celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony of our first logistics and distribution center in Bosnia and Herzegovina recently, which will have a storage capacity of almost 60,000 sqm. In North Macedonia we already started the construction of our biggest investment so far with about 80 million Euro: a new logistics and distribution center. We are committed to sustainable construction, including green energy, waste recycling and plastic reduction. "It's part of our corporate strategy to constantly grow, not only as a company but also as Team Lidl. Therefore, we are analyzing further expansion opportunities – currently with a focus on the Western Balkans. Albania, Kosovo, and Montenegro are also potential candidates for new openings in the future," says Tomasz Kuzma, Head of Expansion at Lidl International.
