Imagine coming home to a child who is not only happy but eager to help out around the house. A child who can count, put a little stool on the ground, jump on it, count veggies for a meal, cut them up, and sing along with you. This is the reality for many parents involved in the CoRE program. One of the most powerful aspects of CoRE is how it reduces the load on mothers, who are often under immense pressure. We’ve seen parents coming back to us just a month or two after the program starts, amazed at the changes in their children. They ask us: "Why is my child doing these things? Why is my child coming home wanting to help? Why is my child tidying up? Why is my child wanting to cut the vegetables?" These are tangible changes that make a real difference in daily life. Speaking with parents whose children are part of CoRE has been profoundly inspiring. I am so proud of what we've accomplished together—the dedicated teachers, the resilient mothers, and most importantly, the thriving children. Someone once said, "Compound interest is the eighth wonder of the world.” The work we are doing with CoRE is the very essence of compounding. Imagine that child, eager to help out around the house, who can count, who gets involved. Compound this over the years, child by child, mother by mother, family by family, neighbourhood by neighbourhood, province by province, country by country. This is the stuff that really moves the societal needle, and it has to start somewhere. This is where it starts!

A rite of passage at age 13-ish is the important transition from childhood to adulthood, which can be significant for several reasons: *At around the age of 13, many individuals begin to undergo significant physical, emotional, and cognitive changes. A rite of passage can provide a symbolic marker for this transition and help adolescents understand and embrace these changes. *Rites of passage often involve the participation and support of the community or family, strengthening these bonds and fostering a sense of belonging and connection. *Going through a challenging or symbolic experience during a rite of passage can help build emotional resilience, preparing adolescents to face the challenges of adulthood. *A rite of passage is often marked with celebrations, which can boost an individual's self-esteem and sense of achievement. It's an opportunity to be recognized and celebrated by the community and loved ones. *A Rite of Passage also helps to prepare us all for the future roles we will take on as adults, allowing independence to naturally begin while your kids are still at home and can be coached and encouraged. If you're someone who is talking about, planning for, trying to provide, or demanding "quality early care and education," I urge you to spend some time with Defending the Early Years' free, virtual summer institute "Advancing Quality in Defense of Early Childhood Education and Care" from June 24-26. "Quality has always been an important component in ensuring that all young children have access to early care and education. Nonetheless, defining, measuring, and guaranteeing high quality demonstrates the complexities and difficulty in making high quality for all a reality. What does quality mean to you? How do you demonstrate quality in your program or classroom? How can the systems used to measure quality be improved? What does high quality mean in relation to justice and equity for disadvantaged and marginalized children? The 2024 Sixth Annual DEY Summer Institute will address these questions and many more." As families prepare for the back-to-school season, there is a noticeable adjustment taking place. The buzz of anticipation fills the air as families and children, young and old navigate the return to routines, school supplies shopping, and reconnecting with classmates and teachers. A mixture of excitement and apprehension prevails as families strive to strike a balance between meeting siblings expectations and own worries as well as for many gearing up for the busy times that lie ahead for school, work and activities. It's always good to be back though!! Read my full blog here 👇 https://lnkd.in/esassTHJ
