Beyonce just performed 3 shows across 2 states in 3 days, as part of her high-grossing Renaissance tour. Wait! What? The Renaissance tour production travels the States, same as Europe before, and has some serious tech and scenography involved, making the main artist fly, the concertgoers see fireworks, a silver horse (and Beyonce on it), and 3D light, screen & laser effects, with much more. Something that could take at least a week to set up to another production team, to achieve such precision. When seeing in the news that a show in Pittsburg Penn got cancelled, due to logistics concerns, I was not surprised. What I am surprised and excited about is how effective a well-considered and engineered hardware and team-work can land such an impressive pace and quality. If you are an attentive observer, you would see boxes of packed equipment leaving the venue (but not disturbing anyone) while the show is still ongoing. P.S. Great article in AV & Entertainment Magazine about the new Dutch musical, De Tocht! With thanks to Production Designer Luc Peumans and his team at PWL - Painting with Light for entrusting Follow-Me Track-iT with this project. Follow-Me Track-iT was scaled up to a total of 30 anchors to cover the large performance area, insuring that performers were always perfectly lit whilst dealing intelligently with radio wave reflections caused by the ice track and video walls. In this beautifully designed show the video walls move to change the size of the performance area and dividing this into two sections. Accurate placing of sufficient anchors allowed for performers to be fluently lit across the entire performance area at any time.
