Nobody Comes to Your Door to GIVE you Money! Benjamin Ryan you will probably never understand how much of an impact you had on my life when we sat down for our first 4/5 hours together. Sir Alex Ferguson is one of the most recognisable managers in the EPL for a very good reason. He was very successful, his results were outstanding and if you love your rugby like myself, there is another guy with the nickname Razor who has achieved outstanding results due to the way he makes a group of people become a unit. I have never met Sir Alex or Razor, but I was managed by Ben Ryan and it was those first few hours with him that made me want to do more than just go out and sell the product, I wanted to be the very best and having a good manager is one part of that, but you also need to turn up and do the job. Nobody has ever come to my door and handed me money, but I have knocked on more doors and fronted on more occasions than most to provide a service because I believe in what I do and I was managed by someone who lit a fire within me at one stage, and I’ll never forget the impact that had on my professional career. Good managers are good with people, they manage you so you can get on and do the work you’re paid for. If you have been or currently have a good manager, please recognise them and say thank you, because it’s a bloody tough job and often looked over. The best manager I have ever had was Ben Ryan at Waterlogic. This video is gold for so many reasons.

Team leaders in real estate do you struggle to retain great agents? Too often I see mandates that all sales agents must do. Hold a certain number of open houses each month. Reach a certain number of dials each day. Set a specific number of appointments each day. Door knock. Etc. etc. etc. A good team leader will provide the tools, resources and coaching and allow their agents to do what they do best. I am not saying that you shouldn’t set expectations and goals. But requiring an agent to do something they abhor isn’t productive for you or them. Retaining great agents is something I help team leaders accomplish. This is a disheartening reality that dissuades organizations from entering the workforce and implementing some questionable policies in their organizations. This problem is a double edged sword: 1. Employers should pay employees well. 2. Certain deductions should not be made on salaries as per Sec. 69 and 70 of the Labour Act 3. Employees should maintain honesty and integrity in their actions and dealings with the company and affiliates 4. Employees should uphold their duties as stated in Sec. 9 and 11 of the Labour Act. This is shocking. The company management decided to check all staff closing for the day and this is the result. How can any business grow with this? HOW? If you have a manufacturing company, warehouse or shop with staff, you must be very vigilant and careful. In fact, save yourself major business loss by installing CCTV at strategic places.
