A startup led by Technion - Israel Institute of Technology alumnus Igal Zeitun, Sonovia, is leading the way in revolutionizing fashion. To get that blue hue, denim needs to be dip-dyed 20 times. But Sonovia has figured out how to get the desired color in just one pass. Its solution utilizes non-toxic dye that is better for the environment and cuts water use by up to 85%. Sustainable solutions across the supply chain ✨ Our innovators Ponda Bio, Nature Coatings, and Materra join forces with manufacturers, investors, textile companies and three other materials startups to create the revolutionary capsule collection, Everloop! The capsule consists of six collaboratively produced pieces — two jackets, two sweaters, one T-shirt and one pair of trousers — that integrate different technologies across materials, pigment and stitching. These include Ponda Bio’s Biopuff wadding, Materra’s cotton fibre, and Nature Coatings’s wood-based pigment Bioblack TX. This collaboration between our innovators and Positive Materials, Petratex - Confecções SA, PDS Ventures and AMPHICO, Pact, Savian by BioFluff proves that it’s possible to tackle multiple sustainability issues all at once, without compromising one issue for another, and without sacrificing style or creativity in the process. “This collaboration is a very important mechanism to showcase the fact that there are no silver bullets within the fashion supply chain. Illustrating, very tangibly, how different materials can address different issues is key. I think there’s sometimes the temptation to assume there’s that one material that solves it all. That’s just an impossible dream. Biomaterial innovators like NFW and their #Mirum and #Pliant materials help wool and other natural fibres become a viable component of more complex product like footwear, eliminating the need to combine with persistent plastic materials. Nature shows us that monocultures fail to thrive—we need biodiversity. This idea, when applied to product design, brings tactility, depth, and dynamic function.
