Congratulations to Leya today, on various counts! This Swedish-born AI Legal Assistant start-up has come from behind the gate in a crowded field, rapidly gaining momentum, and today announces that it has secured $25 million in a Series A funding led by Redpoint Ventures, with participation from existing investors Benchmark, Y Combinator, and Wayfinder Ventures, with the new addition of Alt Capital. A Y Combinator start-up, Leya has already established a solid client base in continental Europe and launched in the UK just a few weeks ago, announcing a partnership with FromCounsel that allows for legal research and guidance workflows in the platform. Rumor has it that the UK launch was hugely successful, with a number of firms rapidly jumping on board the Leya train. The company has also made a significant recent hire, bringing on board Chris Williams in the role of GTM for Europe. This high profile hire suggests that a continued drive to gain ground in Europe and UK lies ahead for Leya, though it's unlikely to be long before a US launch is also on the cards. In the second part of his series on designing and creating your target operating model, VP and global head of consulting at Factor Michael Callier 「家利亚」talk about the importance of clarifying remit and scope - not just at the departmental level, but also on an individual basis. Michael cites a number of studies highlighting the increased importance of clarity, especially in a volatile and uncertain environment: 💡 Role clarity significantly influences individual engagement, effectiveness, attitude and retention rates 💡 Clarity around remit will improve interoperability between departments 💡 Lack of maturity around remit and scope can lead business professionals to avoid the legal department, leading to increased risk 💡 Lack of individual role clarity leads to burnout, bandwidth issues, and can reduce retention. Read Michael's full article below, with more helpful guidance and citations to relevant studies. #legaloperations #legal #corporatelegal #leadership

Interesting data analysis conducted here by Alex Baker using the Legaltech Hub directory. We agree with him that there are opportunities for products in the small-mid law space. #legaltech #legal #midlaw
Is this a potential gap in the legal tech market? I was talking to a founder last week about what segments of the legal market they were best placed to target. Big law, SME firms, in-house legal etc. And it got me thinking that there must be some data that can shine a light on where tech companies are focused and more importantly where there might be some opportunities. I looked at some data last week from the LegalTechnology Hub which shows that there are nearly 3000 legal tech solutions on the market. The graph below shows what audience they are targeting. Whilst some companies focus on more than one segment, it's quite a stark comparison. Is there a gap in the market for solutions that are supporting small and medium sized law firms? Are you building a solution for these segments? I'd love to hear from you. DM me or schedule 30 minutes directly here: https://lnkd.in/euXqQCUN
