The power of science is amazing. A 40% increase in grid capacity using AI-enabled temperature and weather monitoring would be remarkable without the need to build new power lines. Especially with the increase in BEVs placing more demand on the grid.

Has the 'Holy Grail' of EV charging finally been unlocked? If you’re not familiar with British startup, Nyobolt, it’s time to read up on them. Their new 35kWh lithium-ion battery was charged from 10% to 80% in under five minutes in a live demonstration last week. One of the biggest obstacles to EV adoption in the U.S. is the time required to charge. The other barrier to overcome is the lack of public charging infrastructure. Alamon's Energy Services division is working on the latter issue, providing EV charging station installation and maintenance services across the U.S. Read the full story about Nyobolt here: https://lnkd.in/gqgJDKyt

Thinking 'inside' the box... Positive steps from BT’s startup innovation arm Etc. I’m sure many will be interested to see how this repurposing trial plays out. On the face of things this seems like a great idea to utilise existing power and infrastructure points, while helping to tackle the shortage and geographical spread of charger points needed around the UK. Should this pilot scheme prove successful, as many as 60,000 old BT cabinets across the UK have the potential to be upgraded into EV chargers! As a relatively new entrant to the EV market, I have been pleasantly surprised by the ease of transition and infrastructure in place, but with 78% of petrol and diesel drivers citing the inability to charge an electric vehicle conveniently as their biggest purchasing barrier, clearly there is a lot more work to be done. Fingers crossed this initiative can be a major forward step. #evcharging #cleantech #evinfrastructure #electricvehicle #electriccarscheme #executivesearch #retainedsearch #ukrecruitment

"InstaVolt has plans in place to install 11,000 chargers in the UK and Ireland" - the kind of news we love to see. 👏 At GWM ORA, we recently conducted a UK market research study involving 2,000 EV intenders, which showed that charging infrastructure was still a top concern for those looking to make the switch. The good news is that charging infrastructure continues to grow across the UK, recently passing a major milestone with the installation of the 10,000th rapid EV ChargePoint. According to Zapmap, at the end of December 2023, there were 53,900 electric vehicle charging points in the UK, across 31,000 charging locations, which represents a 45% increase in the total number of charging devices since December 2022. We also asked those surveyed about their driving habits, with only 19% saying that they travelled more than 10,000 miles annually in their main car and 43% admitted that they only make a 200 mile trip ‘a few times a year’. In 3-4 years your typical gas station is going to change to look something like this. "A convenience store paired with a filling station becomes essential for EV charging, Niese added. Powering up at the fastest type of charger typically takes more than 40 minutes — far longer than a gasoline refill, according to the Department of Energy. Drivers need something to do while they wait. Filling stations paired with convenience stores already have amenities and staffing. If EV drivers spend $15-$20 in the store while their cars charge, the investment becomes worthwhile, McDonald said." "Public chargers are only part of the equation, Niese said. Partnering with fleets on corporate charging hubs is a more predictable and lucrative business — one that EV charging startups have yet to crack successfully."

Wow! $638M in #EV and Hydrogen Fueling Infrastructure Project winners announced. There is still a lot of funding available whether its to electrify fleets, provide EV charging infrastructure, or make the personal shift to driving an electric car. Infrastructure is a top barrier to the "EVolution" and major investments like this to include coming together on the NACS fast charging standard are making huge strides in they ambitious yet sustainable shift in how we move people and cargo. #electrification #smartcity #EVSE #electricfleet https://lnkd.in/gGY6F_Us..
