This heroic act made me think about what being a 'team player' means.... At the European Team Championships in Poland, Belgium shot putter and hammer thrower Jolien Boumkwo donned her running shoes and took to the 100-metre hurdles all for the sake of her team when two of the teammates couldn’t perform - talk about a plot twist! Being a true team player is putting yourself in an uncomfortable situation that may make you red in the face or affect your reputation for the sake of the team. To me, that is what a great leader is. Pushing your ego and identity to the side for the sake of something greater than yourself. I think we can all learn something from Jolien, don’t you? Let me ask you… Are you *really* a team player? #teamplayer #teambuilding #leadership #leadershipcoach

What could you benefit from practicing today?
Own and drive your career development for the long term. 86% of leaders I've coached have got promoted/new roles within 18 months
How often do you practice as a leader? Practice giving feedback? Practice sharing a vision? Practice having a perceived difficult conversation? And how often do you reflect afterwards on how something went to see what went well that you can do more of, and what you might do differently next time? I was reminded of the importance of practice and reflection this week while marveling at tennis players at the top of their game like Carlos Alcaraz. I was fortunate to attend the Queen's Club Championships this week with my sister and see some talented players... talented certainly, but also players who have put a lot of time and effort into practice and refinement, reflection and learning. At the end of one match, the winner being interviewed spoke of what he had taken from the game .. he was already reflecting to support him for the next round. As a leader, when did you last practice? What could you benefit from practicing? And when will you next plan some time to do just that? #Leaders #Learning #SelfReflection

What does it take to be a follower? We usually talk about the power of leadership but a great discussion today reminded me of the bravery it takes to be a follower. Leaders make a statement but the first follower makes that statement credible and that's a bold move in itself! Check out this great (and old) video about the courage it takes to be a follower! https://lnkd.in/eYShdkcu

Leadership is not about telling people what to do; it’s about inspiring them to be their best. True leaders empower their teams, foster collaboration, and lead by example. Let’s continue to cultivate these qualities in ourselves and others, because great leadership drives success! 💼💪 #Leadership #Success #Empowerment https://lnkd.in/dRDV_7AK

One of the best videos I saw during the Executive #MBA at Università degli Studi di Udine. "A leader needs the guts to stand alone and look ridiculous. [...] the first followers publicly shows everyone how to follow. [...] Three is a crowd and a crowd is news." "We were told we all need to be leaders, but that would be really ineffective. The best way to make a movement [...] is to courageosly follow and show others how to follow." https://lnkd.in/eggMgXZX #leadership #leadershipdevelopment #leadershipskills
