My 30th Recruitment Birthday ! A younger relative recently asked me โwhat has changed since you started in recruitmentโ. Now that's three decades ago this month! The major thing was obviously the impact of technology. How I gather, assimilate, and disperse information has changed a lot. Databases, CRM systems, LinkedIn etc. Automation of day-to-day tasks has freed me up to provide more value adding services. Iโm better informed and do a better job. Question answered! ย โbut what does that meanโ was the follow up query.ย Thinking about it I picked some key things. @ - Being a trusted advisor. Working proactively not just reactively, & - Providing career guidance. Not just finding someone a job. & - Networking. Old style recruitment was more deskbound & - Continually developing skills using face to face and online support. & - Taking care of myself. Personal wellbeing is much more important. Today's #FeatureFriday provides us with a #SuccessStory from our colleague Luis (Alex) Caicedo who is a Career Development Coordinator in the NW Region of Oregon. "Peterson Louidor's journey from refugee to thriving professional is a testament to the power of community collaboration and the dedicated efforts of the local Career Development Coordinator (CDC). Upon arriving in the US with a determination to build a positive future, Peterson sought assistance at WorkSource Oregon. It was here that the local CDC, attuned to Peterson's multifaceted needs, embarked on a journey of empowerment alongside him. From academic and employment goals to housing, transportation, and beyond, the CDC served as a guiding light, coordinating with partners, programs and services while translating information and facilitating informed decisions every step of the way. Through strategic networking and partnerships with community-based organizations and agencies, Peterson accessed vital resources, including funding for stability, and expedited CDL training. Despite setbacks, such as the loss of an OJT position due to contract issues, the CDC's unwavering advocacy, bolstered by strong community partnerships and business service connections, ensured Peterson's journey continued forward. Ultimately, Peterson found success with Mid Valley Glass, securing meaningful employment and a promising future. His story underscores the importance of nurturing relationships within the community and fostering collaboration between CDC's and business service representatives. For Business Services Representatives, the key takeaways are clear: โญ Community Collaboration: Success stories like Peterson's highlight the significance of building and maintaining strong relationships within the community. By leveraging these connections, CDC's can better support clients in achieving positive outcomes. โญ Career Developer Coordination: A skilled CDC plays a pivotal role in coordinating and leveraging community relationships, employer connections, services, programs, and benefits to support clients' academic and occupational goals. โญ Generating Employer Connections: Career developers actively generate new employer connections while also utilizing existing ones established by Business Service Representatives.
