I am thrilled to be an incoming member of the Lead for North Carolina at the UNC School of Government cohort! This is a program for young leaders working to strengthen our public institutions and help transform our local communities across North Carolina. I will be in Pikeville, NC, working on projects such as ordinance reviews, promoting platforms for local transparency, and developing a new town vision. The Town of Roseboro has transformed the previous Community Garden space. There is now a beautiful stage and landscaping which gives the community a public space to gather and be proud of. This project began during my fellowship and I appreciate the Town of Roseboro team for allowing me to continue the project. I am looking forward to how this area will be used to support local events. We are beyond thankful the Rural Community Capacity Implementation grant and the Sampson County Convention and Visitors Bureau Capital grant funding in making this project possible.
