🛫 From now on, I believe hackathons are one of the best ways to enhance (skyrocket) both hard and soft engineering skills. A few weeks ago, I had an incredible experience participating in my first hackathon alongside some brilliant engineers. Shout out to Marcellino Chris O'Vara, Ahmad Rafi Wirana, and I Made Indra Mahaarta! 🔥 The challenge was to create a customer service (CX) app integrated with AI. Our solution, Autorepl.ai, aims to assist customer service agents by accelerating their learning curve with a wiki and categorization, and enhancing response times using RAG AI recommendations. 🧠 💡Here are my key takeaways from the non-stop intense 3-day #hackathon: X) Embrace Challenges to Learn Faster New challenges reshape our thinking. Personally, they get my adrenaline pumping. During the hackathon, I adopted Shadcn-UI for the first time (now my favorite UI-kit) and plan to rebuild my personal website, impulsively ✌️, with it. Stay tuned for updates! (Will update the progress here) Tip: For real, take on some real-deal challenges and feel the excitement to learn! Y) Zoom Out !! 🌅 Long story short, I realized that the winning teams focused on their business canvas rather than the 'hack.' As a software engineer, I often find it's easy to get tunnel vision on specific requirements. However, zooming out to consider what juries, competitions, and, in future jobs, ‘the clients’ need can lead to more effective solutions 😎. While our solution received compliments and good feedbacks from most of the juries, shifting our focus might have yielded even better results. Tip: Always consider the broader picture and the stakeholders' needs. Z) Share Your Ideas 🔊 Working with great minds fosters the development of exceptional products and even better thinkers (I mean you and your team!). One sentence in a brainstorming session can spark a significant discovery! The worst case of speaking your mind is receiving feedback that helps you think better 📈. Nothing changes if you remain silent and overthink. Tip: Voice your ideas—feedback is a pathway to improvement. Final Thoughts 🧑💻 🐉 This experience has broadened my perspective on teamwork and software engineering. I’m eager to participate in more hackathons soon and highly recommend it to you guys! Have a great week ahead, everyone! ❤️🔥 #swe

Software Engineering Fellow at Headstarter AI | Aspiring BSCS Student with a Zeal for Technology and Continuous Learning!
Just wrapped up the inspiring second kickoff session of Headstarter AI's Software Engineering Fellowship, and I'm buzzing with takeaways! This week's guest speaker was Jack O'Brien, a powerhouse in the tech industry – former Tech Lead at Google and CTO of a company acquired by a16z! His insights on building a strong portfolio were pure gold. ✨ Here are some key learnings that resonated with me: ✅ Prioritize Projects: A portfolio showcasing your skills is a game-changer for landing dream jobs. Don't wait for the perfect opportunity – start building side projects to gain experience. ✅ Embrace Imperfection: Focus on the act of building, not achieving instant perfection. Your initial projects might not be flawless, but the learning curve is invaluable. ✅ The Power of Feedback: Getting real users to test your projects and provide feedback is crucial for improvement. ️ ✅ Network & Promote: Leverage your network – friends, family, colleagues – to get eyes on your projects. Additionally, consider promoting them on platforms like Reddit, Twitter, Hacker News, and Product Hunt. A huge thanks to the Headstarter AI team for creating such an enriching learning experience. I'm excited to dive into this week's solo website project and explore incorporating a product landing page and a portfolio certificate template! What are some of your best tips for building a strong software engineering portfolio? Share your thoughts in the comments below! #Headstarter #SoftwareEngineeringFellowship #PortfolioBuilding
