Deep-rooted gender inequalities refer to systemic and long-standing disparities between genders that are ingrained in cultural, social, economic, and political structures. These inequalities manifest in various forms, such as unequal access to education, healthcare, and employment opportunities, as well as biases in legal rights and social norms. They are often perpetuated by traditional beliefs and practices that assign different roles, responsibilities, and values to men and women, leading to sustained discrimination and disadvantage for one gender, typically women.
Deep-rooted inequalities trap women and girls in poverty. We tackled this with gender-responsive fiscal policies, social protections, and essential services benefitting 91 million women in 2023. Read more in our 2023 Gender Equality Annual Report: https://go.undp.org/4kH

In honor of International Women's Day we restate the United Nations Foundation: Girls and women have a right to be equal everywhere — in every country and in every aspect of life. Yet today, girls and women are not equal anywhere. And setbacks for gender equality block global progress. Gender discrimination is one of the most glaring setbacks. Wherever it exists, though, there are also brave advocates taking action to end inequality. The all-womxn team at data2insight is committed to achieve equality for all girls and all women, wherever they are. #equaleverywhere #liberationforall https://lnkd.in/g4sNqcsV
