Laurel Life Gives Back Kristen Killinger, Laurel Life therapist, held her annual card drive. Kristen challenged students and staff at a local high school to handmake cards that would be distributed to children in hospitals. Kristen also received monetary donations of arts and crafts supplies donations. "I was drawn to the mission of bringing smiles to children in the hospital. As a parent, when your child is sick, especially if facing a terminal illness, you just want to make them as comfortable as possible, and that includes making sure they have something fun to do during a potentially difficult time." Thank you for giving back to your community! #laurellifegivesback #communityservice #mentalhealth

A few year’s ago my family joined our first JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes in Toronto. We were incredibly inspired by JDRF’s commitment to improving lives today and tomorrow by accelerating life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) and its complications. We were overcome with emotion being surrounded by other T1D families, ambassadors, and dedicated volunteers and staff. Our hearts were filled with hope for a bright future for our son Ashton, and all Canadians living with T1D. Experiencing this profound sense of community, we knew we had to be a part of JDRF’s mission to advance T1D, to find a cure, and to accelerate the pace of research to get closer to the goal of a world without diabetes. This is why it means so much to our family to be a part of the JDRF Holiday Match program. A cure for T1D would mean everything. It would mean no more finger pricks, no more needles, no fear of complications, no life-threatening urgent low blood sugars, and no more sleepless nights. It would mean Ashton could be present in every moment of every day, instead of worrying about what the next moment may bring. It would mean no children would have to live with T1D. Today, and every day, we dream of a cure and we never give up! 💙 #givingseason #diabetesawareness
Managing T1D is not easy – and this time of year is especially challenging. That’s why JDRF needs your help to change the reality of daily life with T1D for the better. Until Dec 31st, your donations will be MATCHED by a group of caring T1D families. Make 2x the impact → https://ow.ly/yHwy50QjU9U We wish you and yours the happiest of holiday seasons! 💙 #givingseason #diabetesawareness

As many of you know, Sojourner House launched a campaign early this year to fund the purchase of our gorgeous new Westminster Street property. This building (pictured below) houses the agency's Drop-In Center, which works to connect survivors of abuse with safe housing, emotional counseling, and life-saving supportive services. The Sojourner House Drop-In Advocacy & Resource Center is one of the only drop-in centers for survivors in the state, making it a vital resource for our community. To support this fundraising effort, the Champlin Foundation issued us a challenge: If we can raise $250,000 towards our capital campaign by 10/31, they'll double it. This gift would go a long way in helping us reach our goal, but the deadline is tomorrow and we still have money to raise. Can you help us meet the match? Click the link below to make a donation or pledge a future gift. https://lnkd.in/eqWxY5W6 If you’ve donated already, or have shared a post about our campaign efforts, please know how grateful we are for your support; and how honored we feel that you've decided to invest in our future. #rhodeisland #ri #providence #pvd #dvam #domesticviolenceawarenessmonth

From all of us at Tuesday's Child hope you had a great holiday weekend with loved ones. Please help us reach our goal for Giving Tuesday. This Tuesday we are to raising money on Giving Tuesday that will help lower income families with financial assistance to access all of our programs. If you are not able to donate maybe there is a friend, relative or coworker that you know that might. Sharing Tuesday's Child donation link on any of your social media's would greatly help us to bring the awareness and mission of Tuesday's Child to families that might need our assistance. https://lnkd.in/gbD_FtPP Here is a testimonial form the Williams Family- Kenny had challenges in school. He was aggressive with other children when he didn’t get his way. His teachers didn’t understand what was going on. He was attending an excellent school, but sometimes even the best schools need assistance. It was very helpful to be in the Tuesday’s Child parent sessions and good to know other parents had the same frustrations and difficulties. To know we weren’t alone. His behavior has improved both at school and at home. As parents, we’ve become more understanding and compassionate. Tuesday’s Child was there for us. They helped us communicate. He’s able to use his words instead of his hands, to express his feelings instead of lashing out and throwing a tantrum #givingtuesday #charity #donate #tuesdayschild #kids #preschool #parents #teacher #care #chicago #kids #nonprofit #autism #ptsd #nonverbal

PAUSE ⏸️ & take a minute to stop doing your day job, watch this video and whether it’s this important topic or something more personal to you, reflect on what really matters in life?
Meals & More has reported a huge increase in demand, as families face some of the toughest conditions since it began. The charity delivered record levels of support over the summer, as it sought to assist vulnerable families struggling in the face of the cost-of-living crisis. Meals and More helped 270 holiday clubs, provided more than 250,000 meals and extended its Big Day Out programme, which helps to give children an enriching experience over the summer holidays. This year, more than 2,000 children were given the opportunity to enjoy a Big Day Out. Peter McGrath, Operations Director at Meals & More, said: “I’m very proud of the support that Meals & More has delivered this year, but equally disappointed that we still must. We are so grateful that our supporters continue to fund us so generously, as without their donations we would not be able to help the tens of thousands of children that we do." This is Jacqui, the Support Services Coordinator at Girikon's Client Organisation: Council of Single Mothers and Their Children (CSMC). Jacqui and her team provide single mothers with the specialist support and information that CSMC is known for. Now Jacqui is speaking out and asking for your help. CSMC's Support Line Workers say they have never had as much unmet demand as now, and the need has never been more acute. The need for support and information has always been high, but demand has skyrocketed due to the cost-of-living crisis. Single mothers who call CSMC's Support Line need help now, but the sheer volume of calls means that many are having to leave messages and wait for a callback. CSMC urgently needs to employ an additional part-time Support Worker to make sure single mother families in dire circumstances get the help they need: https://hubs.li/Q02zplf-0. #CSMC #EOFY #Donation #MakeChange #MakeChangeHappen #MakeADifference #NotForProfit #SupportWorker #SingleMothers
An extra part-time Support Worker will change the lives of single mother families.

Partnerships are the foundation of every successful CAC.
We were absolutely delighted to receive a check from Medford Food Co-op last week as their chosen Positive Change recipient for May. Huge thanks to Medford Food Co-op and all the kind-hearted shoppers who made this donation possible! Being selected as the Positive Change recipient for May was an honor, and we are so grateful for the support. The funds received will go a long way in ensuring that we can continue to offer safe and nurturing spaces, as well as highly trained staff, for the children in our direct service programs. Once again, thank you for your incredible support! #ChildAdvocacy #CommunityFirst #ShopLocal
