Have you considered rebound effects in you circular business case? I love your posts Marcus Linder where you help us navigate the reserarch frontier in circular business! And yes, you get to work with Marcus Linder too in the Circular Business Lab at RISE!
#Reboundeffects are when an efficiency improvement results in increased demand, thus decreasing the achieved savings compared to a naive estimate. They're an uncontroversial #economic phenomenon that affects how much #environmental benefits we get from innovations like #circularbusinessmodels. Below is an interesting paper that reviews the #scientificliterature on #reboundeffects for the #circulareconomy. I especially like tables 3-6 that summarize the literature in terms of estimated rebound effects at micro through global scales. In summary many effects are upwards 70%, but a (to me) surprisingly large number of studies found rebound effects below 10%. That would be great news if that turns out to be a common and stable result for some industries! In practice, that we have to live with rebound effects means two things: 1) We need to improve environmentally a bit more than we might at first think. It's one of the reasons I think its reasonable for many business to aim for 10X improvements if we want people to stay wealthy long term. 2) We'll need to address the consumption side of things as innovatively as we are the production side if we want to make quick progress that also make peoples lives better. Here's the paper: https://lnkd.in/dJYMzPZ6 Great job @Benjamin Lowe and co-authors.

Yes, these courses are creating opportunities for people to really grow. Government of India’s circular economy, committees, formed and now leading into actions from the respective central and state ministries and governments are opening opportunities for one and all in the sectors. Repair ability policies; Extended producer responsibility are a few which has been brought in many sectors is going to change the face of material consumption and recovery; carbon emissions understanding. Therefore we all really need to get to the right information and the right knowledge to be a successful entrepreneur or actor in the ecosystem. I will urge one and all to really benefit from these courses not because I am one of the faculty but lot of years of experience of the people in the faculty is going to ensure that right information, knowledge and experience is passed on as good practises. Best to one and all - 👍😊
