Did you know? According to recent studies, non-exhaust emissions from vehicles—including those from brakes—can contribute significantly to urban air pollution, sometimes even surpassing exhaust emissions in certain areas! Our esteemed LAT colleague, Dr. Athanasios Dimaratos addressed this crucial issue at EuroBrake 2024 in Mainz, Germany, from June 17-19. Athanasios presented groundbreaking research on brake emissions, a major component of non-exhaust emissions in vehicles. LAT's work sheds light on this often-overlooked aspect of automotive environmental impact. EuroBrake, the world's largest technical event for brake and friction technology, provided an excellent platform for sharing this vital research and networking with industry leaders. Kudos to Athanasios and the rest of his team for advancing our understanding of automotive emissions on an international stage! #EuroBrake2024 #AutomotiveResearch #NonExhaustEmissions #SustainableTransport

The GREENTECH FESTIVAL opened its doors at the new location of Messe Berlin today, and the turnout was awesome! 🚀 Here‘s my Top Highlights from today‘s Exhibition: ✈️ APUS Zero Emission GmbH: Apus is set to make history with the first hydrogen fuel cell certified aircraft to go into production. Their emission-free aircraft will have its inaugural flight from Sylt to Berlin, embodying sustainable aviation, innovative thinking, and visionary developments. 🌍 Poetsch: Poetsch introduced a revolutionary pavement stone that mimics the properties of grass. It's permeable, allowing water to pass through directly to the earth, while also filtering out microplastics and other contaminants. A smart and eco-friendly solution for urban environments! 🚗 AUDI AG: Audi presented the Audi Q6 e-tron, as well as the RS Q e-tron (the vehicle that won the Dakar Rally). They're also showcasing the premium electric platform for the Audi Q6 and A6 which is super cool to see. 🚛 DLR/U-shift Driveboard: DLR showcased their modular, fully electric, and autonomous U-Shift vehicle concept. By separating the driving module from the transport capsule, they create new possibilities for intermodal transport, including autonomous delivery, intra-logistics, and barrier-free passenger transport. Innovative companies in the green tech space are super important in driving the transition towards a more sustainable future. They bring fresh ideas and technologies that can significantly reduce our environmental footprint and create new economic opportunities. What recent green tech innovation excites you the most? Last week, Dr. José J. Diez-Rodríguez, who serves as our Project Management and Tech-Scouting representative in the TraWeBa = Transformations-Hub Wertschöpfungskette Batterie project, attended the IAA MOBILITY fair in Munich. His insights afterwards: "Being able to participate in the #IAA2023 in Munich has been a valuable opportunity to spread the message, as well as to raise awareness of our transformation Hub at one of the world's leading mobility platforms. On the one hand we have been able to observe first-hand some interesting trends in the automotive sector in the areas of technology and sustainability, and on the other hand we have enjoyed a dynamic connected mobility experience in a friendly and human collaborative environment. And looking at this fundamental aspect, we have had a constructive dialogue with various stakeholders where we have not only discussed the current landscape of the battery field but also but also exchanged perspectives on the mobility of the future." #circularvalley #circulareconomy #circularity #gigaimpact #sustainability #environment #homeofcirculareconomy #accelerator #innovation #kreislaufwirtschaft #heimatderkreislaufwirtschaft #nachhaltigkeit #klimaschutz #nrw #rheinruhr #energytransition #SDG11 #SDG12

”SEEL is important because the whole transformation into fossil-free transport requires collaboration, and this arena will actually be the navel for collaboration between ourselves, as of being who we are, together with a lot of innovative companies to make this happen. So that is the absolute most important with SEEL,” said Martin Lundstedt CEO, Volvo Group at the Grand Opening of SEEL on September 1. SEEL Swedish Electric Transport Laboratory is a top modern testing facility that enables groundbreaking research and development for the next generation of electrified transports. By fostering synergies between research and industry, SEEL is on a mission to accelerate the transformation towards an electrified and fossil-free transportation landscape. The first road tests in Belgium of the new ATX URBANIZED platform begin in the coming days. This is an urban electric vehicle prototype manufactured by ALKE in partnership with 8 European partners: Applus IDIADA, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, TNO, bpost, Bax & Company, Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH), Vitesco Technologies and CLEPA - European Association of Automotive Suppliers in the context of the European project URBANIZED supported by the EU Commission. This new platform aims for safety standards never seen before in similar compact vehicles (4 stars Euro NCAP), integrates 4 levels of cloud-monitored eco-functions (eco-driving, eco-comfort, eco-charging and eco-routing), is designed to integrate a modular swap-body based cargo area system, and much more. Tests in the coming weeks will be conducted by BPOST in the streets of the capital city of Brussels adding this vehicle into its logistics fleet. After 3 years of research and development, the results of this joint work, which aims to introduce groundbreaking innovations in the urban electric vehicle segment, are finally materialized. #UrbanizedProject #AlkeElectricVehicles #H2020 #HorizonEurope #EU

#IAA23 When it comes to car sustainability, we tend to think about electric vehicles. But we often forget something else. CO2 emissions have to be reduced during the usage stage – when you drive – but also during the production stage. Single-use plastics are out, sustainable, recyclable materials are in! But that’s not it: we are also working on reducing the overall weight of the materials to achieve energy savings, on limiting the number of components and on recycling them. Using better materials, using less materials, and using them longer. That’s the goal of MATERI'ACT’ACT, a FORVIA company Remi Daudin explains this better than us. #FORVIA #IAA23 #IAAMobility #carcockpits
