Sustainability with Carbon reduction focus, a challenge STO took on a long time ago with a goal of Carbon Free by 2040. Even the famous yellow buckets have recycled content and are repurposed and reused by everyone reducing new contaners manufactured and are also recyclable. Leading from the top, responsible business will instigate future carbon reduction.

Environmental sustainability tunnel vision 🌎 The emphasis on climate change in environmental sustainability strategies often leads to a narrow approach that may overlook other vital issues. Yet, it is crucial to recognize that climate change alone is a complex challenge, deeply intertwined with numerous environmental and social factors, demanding a broader, more inclusive perspective. Highlighted in the image, which draws from Jan Konietzko's "carbon tunnel vision," is the breadth of concerns that define sustainability: biodiversity loss, eco-toxicity, water scarcity, global health, food security, and resource depletion (and many more that are not included in this image). These elements are not standalone challenges; they are interconnected, each impacting the other. You may hear the term "no-till" used in sustainability conversations, but how does not tilling soil help the environment? For one, it helps keep water in the soil for plants to use and prevents the release of carbon dioxide, which is a well-known greenhouse gas.

Water is an economic lifeline, essential for many industries including shipping, fisheries, tourism and even power generation. Today, our water systems are in peril as climate change intensifies droughts and floods and makes clean water scarcer.    Asia Pacific (APAC) is particularly vulnerable to the far-reaching impacts of these water-related challenges. For instance, water stress is directly linked to the region’s food security as 80% of APAC’s water resources are used for agricultural irrigation.   I believe that as a global logistics leader, DP World has a responsibility to effect positive change for the world’s water systems.
