A forthcoming analysis based on a scientific survey highlighted by National Geographic suggests significant impacts on the lives of those planning to discontinue antidepressant use in the future: Approximately 196 million individuals will likely experience withdrawal symptoms, with women accounting for 147 million of these cases. An estimated 52.92 million people will need to take sick leave due to issues related to their condition, including 39.69 million women. Around 49 million might face relationship breakdowns, with 36.75 million of these being women. Nearly 39.2 million are at risk of losing their jobs, with women making up 29.4 million of this group. These projections underscore the necessity for supportive measures and greater awareness within our workplaces and broader communities to better support those facing these challenges https://lnkd.in/dhfJVTZH

14 Most Common Men's Health Issues Men's health refers to the physical, mental, and social well-being of men and covers a wide range of problems that are specific to males or that have an impact on men in a different way than they do on women. This involves problems with sexual and reproductive health, as well as cardiovascular, mental, and cancer prevention and treatment difficulties. Men's health is frequently related to biological aspects like the male reproductive system or diseases brought on by hormones that are unique to or prominent in men. Cancer and injuries are two illnesses that have distinct manifestations in men than they do in women. Some illnesses that affect both sexes statistically harm males more frequently. Men are less likely to seek medical attention and more prone to make dangerous or harmful decisions than women. #welzo #menshealth #diagnosticservices #MensHealth #HealthForMen #Wellness #MensWellBeing #HolisticHealth #MentalHealth #PhysicalHealth #ReproductiveHealth #CancerPrevention

🌸 This April, #PMDAwarenessMonth shines a spotlight on Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) and Premenstrual Exacerbation (PME), conditions that profoundly impact individuals' lives yet remain under-discussed, especially in the workplace. 🔊 I don't need a special month to advocate for increased awareness of premenstrual disorders, but the timing is poignant as we observe the winding down of cyclio 😔 It's a reminder that the journey toward understanding and supporting female menstrual and hormonal health in the workplace still has a long way to go. 🌐 Premenstrual disorders can be more than just challenging; they can be debilitating, impacting every facet of life, influencing professional performance and workplace dynamics. Yet, the conversation around these conditions is still not as prominent as it should be in the workplace. 💡 If you're interested in learning more about PMDD and PME, or if you're keen on fostering a more inclusive and supportive workplace, please reach out 💬 I'd love the opportunity to help educate more people and workplaces on female hormonal health in the workplace. #Awareness #Support #Advocacy #WorkplaceInclusivity #hormonalhealth #HealthAndWellness

“Why is it that women are falling ill to these diseases at a rate so much higher than men? Such jarring disparities cannot be accounted for by genetic and hormonal factors alone; psychosocial factors play an important role as well. Specifically, it seems that the very virtues our culture rewards in women—agreeability, extreme selflessness, and suppression of anger—may predispose us to chronic illness and disease.” 🔗https://lnkd.in/eKNqRAkr #WomensHealth #SelfSilencing #Healthcare

I help companies mitigate risk with a more qualified, compliant and sustainable third party workforce. (*PEC, Veriforce, ComplyWorks, CHAS & Global Worker Pass Have Merged)
March is #EndometriosisAwarenessMonth. Endometriosis is a chronic condition affecting 1 in 10 women between ages 25-40 (190 million women globally). It is ranked in the top 10 (number 1 on some lists) among the most painful conditions, often forcing employees to be considered disabled under the Equalities Act. I have stage 4 and I can tell you firsthand that mentally and physically, it is exhausting! How can you help in the workplace? 1) Understand that you interact with women daily who suffer in silence. 2) Understand the need for additional time off and/or be open to flexible work plans. 3) Provide mental health plans and check ins on employees with the condition. 4) Raise awareness. 5) Include fertility options in your benefits packages. 6) Give grace! Living with any sort of chronic disease is hard. Doing my part to help spread awareness! If you struggle, know that you are not alone! BIG thanks to my management team who has been nothing but supportive over the last (brutal) 11 years! Please like and share.

This Lancet editorial praises zuranolone's approval for postpartum depression but stresses that medication alone won't solve perinatal depression. It highlights the high prevalence, particularly in low-income and middle-income countries, and calls for a broader approach that tackles social factors affecting perinatal women, such as lack of social support, barriers to accessing care, violence, and poverty. Early interventions addressing social determinants are vital, as is the integration of perinatal mental healthcare into maternal and child health programmes on a global scale. Addressing Mental Health Inequities Could Save Trillions Recent research reveals the staggering financial toll of mental health inequities in the U.S., with avoidable costs predicted to reach nearly half a trillion dollars by 2024 and potentially escalating to $1.3 trillion by 2040. A report by Deloitte Insights and Meharry Medical College's Health Equity Institute attributes these costs to premature death, productivity loss, and overutilization of emergency departments due to inadequate mental health services. Untreated mental health issues also exacerbate chronic physical conditions, adding billions in excess care costs. Structural racism and socioeconomic disparities disproportionately impact non-white communities, intensifying these financial burdens. Eating disorders are not exclusive to women; men are also significantly affected. Addressing and normalizing the intense stigma faced by men is crucial for fostering open conversations about recovery. Unfortunately, many individuals, particularly men, go undiagnosed and untreated due to societal stereotypes surrounding eating disorders. The statistics related to eating disorders in men are often inaccurate due to underreporting caused by stigma. However, researchers have begun to focus more on understanding the specific impact of eating disorders in men, leading to significant findings: ✔️ 25% of those diagnosed with eating disorders are males. ✔️ 33% of males have resorted to unhealthy behaviors to alter their weight. ✔️ Eating disorders will impact 10 million males at some point in their lives. ✔️ 15% of gay or bisexual men report struggling with an eating disorder, compared to 5% of heterosexual men. ✔️ Men with eating disorders may face a higher mortality risk than women.
