Can a laboratory be eco-friendly? 🔎 Yesterday was an exciting day at Labs Expo - Targi Wyposażenia i Technologii Laboratoryjnych at Grupa MTP! Together with Katarzyna Chojnacka and Monika Przybył from the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences, I participated in a seminar organized by Krzysztof Wołowiec and Laboratoryjnie.pl on the possibility of making laboratories eco-friendly. Can we achieve it? 🔎 The answer is a resounding YES! 🌍💡 Huge thanks to Paweł Stępniak from Th. Geyer Polska for diving deep into the 12 Principles of #GreenChemistry and to Monika Partyka from i2 Analytical Polska for emphasizing key #ESG considerations. It's encouraging to see a rising awareness of sustainable practices! Now it's time to take action! Let’s start with small steps: ✅ Turn off lights when leaving a room. ✅ Set your computer to power-saving mode and turn off when not in use. Don’t forget about the printer and coffee machine! ✅ Reuse gloves whenever possible. ✅ Choose the smallest pipette or container to minimize plastic use. ✅ Wash labware efficiently, just as you would at home. Great News coming out of DyeCoo in the development of a small machine. The best part of this system is that the tube for fabric can be lengthened for Production Samples at full width, different numbers of yarn cones, narrow and wide fabrics. This brings a whole new use case for DyeCoo in the supply chain and an exciting future for people looking to reduce their dependence on water dyeing and also to make a change in their Carbon Footprint.
