A MEANINGFUL & SYNERGETIC STORY that happened on LinkedIn around a powerful educational idea ‘#ValueCreation’. What if the purpose of #education (and of students) was to create ‘Value’? 🔴 Let's start at the beginning. 16 October 2023. I received a direct message on Linkedin that a group of four students (Louisa Edekobi, Katerina Soland, Zarina Boekhoudt & Sarah Ghasemi) from Windesheim University of Applied Sciences, who were currently pursuing the Global Project and Change Management studies in Zwolle, Netherlands. At that moment, they were undertaking the Value Creators project.  💡 What is the value creator project? (Link in the Comments) Value Creators is an innovative educational concept developed by the Global Project and Change Management (GPCM) | Windesheim Honours College in the Netherlands. They believe in people's potential to change the world and add value. They offer an environment to shape the future together connecting local and global SOULutions to face the challenges ahead. “During a whole semester, students work in creating societal value connecting with communities around the world. Value Creators is a learning community where students become change agents working hand to hand with professional networks. In this learning environment, we work with complex questions related to the Sustainable Development Goals. We encourage students to look beyond the university campus and find interdisciplinary networks to collaborate and learn from.” For a few months, I shared knowledge and also ‘learned’ about the theme, #Wellbeing, that these students had to create value. This was their Agenda: Our mission is to understand how different cultures perceive well-being and the impact this perception has on various aspects of life, including mental health, interpersonal relationships, our planet and the socioeconomic system. One aspect that truly intrigues us is the interplay between individualism and collectivism within these diverse ways of living. We are keen to explore the nuances of both Western and non-Western perspectives, e.g. indigenous viewpoints, to gain a comprehensive understanding of this intricate web of well-being. Some key questions that interest us are: * Could different perspectives on well-being enrich Western well-being? * Are we missing something by measuring and evaluating well-being according to qualitative indicators and Western conceptualizations? * Finally, is true, holistic well-being, on both an individual and planetary basis, being compromised by accepting Western values as the standard towards which people should strive? 💡 ...and finally the project of these 4 students, complemented by the eyes of 8 or 10 people like me to whom they turned, has borne fruit in this website ‘Humankind’ with tools and Wellbeing resources. https://lnkd.in/eRMh-wiU My 2 p. through another interesting concept, "brainwarming", that could be a synonym for Value Creation or Sinergy in comments...

The Rwanda Conflict(1994): Hutu-Tutsi Conflict and Radio Rwanda's Role 1. Ethnic Divide: The Rwanda conflict was rooted in the historical ethnic divide between the Hutu and Tutsi communities, exacerbated by colonial rule and socio-economic disparities. 2. Power Struggle: Tensions escalated when the minority Tutsi group held disproportionate political and economic power, leading to resentment among the majority Hutu population. 3. Assassination Trigger: The conflict's turning point was the assassination of Rwandan President Juvénal Habyarimana, a Hutu, in 1994, which ignited widespread violence. 4. Genocidal Violence: Following the assassination, extremist Hutu factions initiated a systematic campaign of violence against Tutsis, resulting in one of the most brutal genocides in history. 5. Radio Rwanda's Role: Radio Rwanda, a state-controlled media outlet, played a significant role in the conflict by broadcasting hate speech, inciting violence, and promoting anti-Tutsi propaganda. 6. Propaganda Campaign: Radio Rwanda used inflammatory language to dehumanize Tutsis, calling them derogatory names and encouraging their elimination, contributing to the escalation of violence. 7. Coordination Tool: The radio served as a means of communication for extremist Hutu groups, helping them to coordinate attacks, identify targets, and spread fear among Tutsis. 8. International Community Response: Despite mounting evidence of genocide, the international community was slow to respond effectively, contributing to the prolonged violence and loss of life. 9. Civil War and Repercussions: The conflict also involved a civil war, with Tutsi rebels eventually overthrowing the Hutu government. They exploited the trust and gullibility of the masses, twisting facts and spreading hate through the airwaves. And let's not kid ourselves; we're not immune to this tactic. Our government, with its strategic grip on media, shapes narratives to serve its interests. Our collective gullibility becomes their puppet strings. The alarm bells should ring louder than ever. We must refuse to be passive recipients of information and take charge of our minds. Just as Radio Rwanda was wielded as a weapon of division, we see echoes of this in our own media landscape. Misinformation and skewed narratives thrive, often at the expense of harmony. As a majority, we must recognize our privilege and use it to promote truth and unity. 🔎 Our Call to Action Let's be unrelenting in demanding transparency, accountability, and unbiased reporting from our media. Let's cross-reference information, seek diverse sources, and be cautious of being swayed by the noise of half-truths. We owe it to ourselves, to the legacy of history, and to the future we're shaping. 🌈 A Ray of Hope The Rwanda Conflict reminds us that even in the darkest times, there's hope.
