Today marks a historic milestone with the announcement of the first-ever Quantum Campus in the U.S., located at the former USX site on Chicago’s South Side. Anchored by PsiQuantum, this project is one of the largest economic development initiatives in Chicago’s history. It not only positions the city as a global leader in quantum computing but also revitalizes a 400 acre site that once employed tens of thousands. LJC is the lead designer, working alongside Clayco, CRG, and Related Midwest to bring this prestigious project to life at 8080 South Lakeshore Drive. The Quantum Campus will spearhead quantum research, computing power, and education, spanning 120 contiguous acres within a 440-acre property. Clayco and its subsidiaries, including LJC, are moving from Overland to Berkley, Missouri, this fall! We are excited to share a sneak peek into the new LJC-designed workplace. LJC’s integrated services in this project include architecture, interior design, and landscape architecture. The final design combines Clayco and its subsidiaries under one roof, reinforces our team’s #IntegratedByDesign methodology, and utilizes adaptive reuse and sustainable design strategies. Skylit atriums and expansive glass walls prioritize daylight and create a dialogue with the vibrant landscape, seamlessly blurring the line between inside and out.
