What's the right number of placement hours for trainee nurses? In our recent poll, we asked which country required the most placement hours. The majority voted for the UK. And they were right. 🟡In Canada trainee nurses need to complete 1000 placement hours. 🟡In Australia it's 800. 🟡But in the UK nurses are required to complete 2300 placement hours. The NMC is looking into the question of how many hours are needed and exploring the different learning methods different countries use: 'The quality of practice learning is probably more important than the quantity of practice learning' was the view of senior nursing adviser Paula Holt speaking at Nursing Live. Are simulated placements an answer to the placement problems? Find out more https://lnkd.in/eisVX2KT #nursing #nursingeducation

Founder of EDLINKS® & EDLINKS® Press: Educating The New Humanity™ to Awaken and Lift Humanity to See Good Do Better | 2xTEDx Speaker
This article is about teachers and nurses EVERYWHERE—not just in India. “The COVID-19 pandemic taught us so much, including by shining a light on how much we rely on those who provide care for our communities. In particular, we came to realize that the nursing and teaching professions are on the frontlines of community care to help us reach our physical, mental, and emotional potential.” We must #SeeGoodDoBetter in recognizing, respecting, and taking care of the caretakers who take care of us, our children, and our future. #EDLINKS #EducatingTheNewHumanity #TakeCareOfTheCaretakers #Teachers #Nurses

Here is my first GPT that I am posting. It is specific to nursing students to help educate and tutor students through their nursing curriculum. It can create flashcards, Care Plans, Sample Tests, and much more. I've designed it in a way where students truly learn versus having it automatically generating a generic output. i.e. If you ask for a Care Plan that is specific to a problem it will ask multiple questions to ensure that the student is understanding the thought process behind creating a Care Plan to make them more individualized and meaningful. Let me know your thoughts #nursing #nursingstudents #clinician #nursingeducation #nursingschool #nurses

For international nurses eyeing the US, navigating support and sponsorship meticulously is crucial. While the prospect of a better life is great, understanding the broader implications is vital. Consider: - What awaits upon arrival? - Will you be more than just a number? - Are contracts with steep penalties involved? - How do you pick the best state for your lifestyle and career goals? - How does the school system align with your children's educational needs? - What does the benefits system offer? - Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Please do thorough research, and do not hesitate to seek support or ask questions. Making an informed decision about your career move is essential—let's approach it wisely. #nurses #nursesonlinkedin #nursing #themindsetnurse #HealthcareonLinkedIn #futureofhealthcare #ien

A new University of Canterbury course has been introduced to provide a more flexible and accessible nursing qualification. The Master of Health Sciences (Nursing), which is approved by the Nursing Council of New Zealand, provides the opportunity to become a registered nurse after two years of full-time study, instead of the usual three-year nursing degree. The course has already proved popular with 74 students enrolled in the first cohort this year. UC Faculty of Health Executive Dean Cathy Andrew says the course, offered through Tuihono UC | UC Online gives flexibility about when and where students learn, although some in-person attendance is required. "The goal is to make the programme rurally and regionally accessible for people who cannot relocate, while also catering for those who live locally. If we want to grow and diversify our health workforce, we need to find ways for more people to access our programmes." For Cathy, accessibility to learning is an equity issue. "Why should tertiary education only be available to people who live in main centres where there's a university or polytech? We want our students to thrive and succeed and contribute to a strong health workforce in Aotearoa New Zealand." As part of the programme, UC works with local health providers so students can complete clinical placements in their local area. Cathy says that if students can remain at home while studying, they'll be more likely to stay and work locally after they graduate, boosting the workforce in difficult to staff regions.
