NASA’s PACE satellite is transforming our understanding of Earth's oceans and atmosphere through groundbreaking technology. Launched on Feb. 8, the satellite offers detailed insights into cloud formation, aerosol movement, and microscopic ocean life changes over time. With over 200 wavelengths, the Ocean Color Instrument captures Earth in UV, visible, and near infrared light, allowing scientists to identify specific phytoplankton communities crucial for marine ecosystems from space. In a recent visualization, PACE’s Ocean Color Instrument unveils ecosystems off the US East Coast and The Bahamas on March 21, providing valuable information on phytoplankton presence and types. PACE’s polarimeters, HARP2 and SPEXone, offer a unique view of Earth's atmosphere, aiding in the understanding of clouds and aerosols. By studying the interactions between clouds and aerosols, these data contribute to more accurate climate models and help monitor air quality, crucial for human health. #NationalOceanMonth #NASA #EarthScience #OceanHealth #PACEsatellite

Flat Earthers and moon landing hoaxers, move along please. We’re having a SMART conversation here. If you’re not used to setting SMART goals, you may struggle to understand what that really means, what a SMART goal actually looks like. “I believe that this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to the earth.” JFK, 1961 Was that a smart goal? - Specific? Put a man on the moon and return him home. Seems pretty specific to me. - Measurable? Either he’s on the moon or he’s not. Either he’s home or he’s not. - Achievable? Just about. They had seemingly limitless resources, talent and ambition. - Relevant? The Cold War and the Space Race meant space supremacy was everything. - Time-Bounded? Before this decade is out. Check. Although JFK was dead just 2 years later, the US nailed this goal. You do have clearly-defined SMART goals, right? If not, DM me and I’ll help you find direction and get started. #smartgoals #scalingforsale #clarity

春分 (Chūnfēn) Today (March 20, 2024) on the lunar calendar marks the day when the length of day and night is nearly equal. In many East Asian cultures, this symbolizes the rebirth of nature after the cold winter months. It's one of the 24 solar terms in the traditional lunar calendar, and the word Chūnfēn means "Spring Start." And who is not happy 😀 about this? #spring #24solarterms #lunarcalendar

A project in the pipeline. The Last Ice Sentinels expedition, planned for 2026, aims to bring home critical data about the Arctic’s great ice sentinels before they are gone forever. These are the last great chunks of old sea ice, and they’ve protected our planet for millennia. They look like no other ice on earth, and they haven’t melted once in human history - but the last of them are due to melt in the next decade. They are full of information that’s incredibly important to collect, in order to assist our understanding of how the arctic ice affects our planet. No one has ever done this before and there are no records for us to remember them by - we must do it now before it’s too late. This project will be a huge logistical and physical challenge - the first-ever attempted traverse of this complex area of the Arctic Ocean - and the very last opportunity to document the remaining ancient ice. With navigational guidance from the European Space Agency and an international team of scientists, Psyche will assist explorers as they embark west from Cape Oodaaq, Greenland – the most northerly point of land on Earth – towards Ellesmere Island, Canada.

The Greek king Odysseus spent 10 long years on the sea, searching for a way to return to Ithaca. Luckily for Intuitive Machines, their Odysseus only spent a week in the sea of stars before finding its port. The Moon is becoming hot property in outer space, with 2 landmark moon landings having taken place only in the last 6 months. Only 5 states have successfully managed a landing on the lunar surface, with debris of several failed attempts even as recently as last August. While the Moon is only a relatively short distance away from the Earth, it still represents the furthest point in space that a human has set foot on. Now corporations too have proven that they have the technical knowledge and skill to execute one of the most complicated tasks in history. The space race proved to the world that the modern age of discovery brings with rapid scientific development. Now that Intuitive Machines has shown that private landings are possible, the door has been opened for another to follow in their footsteps. The treaties of outer space have long focused on states as being the key players in outer space, yet it is becoming increasingly clear that private companies must have their say. While some in the scientific community still feel that states hold a comparative efficiency when it comes to space operations, lawyers rarely have the luxury of addressing issues only after they have risen. For all its scientific achievements, Odysseus may go down in history as being the catalyst for concrete laws directed entirely for the corporate space race. #space #odyssey #spacelaw #moonlanding Image Credit: The National News
