Are you glued to your TV watching women’s softball? We sure are! At LaBella, we’re catching the softball fever and showcasing a recently completed softball field we designed for East Irondequoit Central School District at Eastridge High School. One of the biggest design challenges we faced was raising the field approximately three feet above the existing grade to protect it from the groundwater table. To achieve this, we incorporated retaining walls around the entire field while ensuring ADA access to the existing dugouts, keeping them safe and accessible. A standout feature of our design is the variation in turf length: the red infield and warning track areas have shorter turf than the green outfield, enhancing playability. Additionally, the outfield’s alternating shades of green mimic freshly cut grass, adding a unique touch. Who are you rooting for in the Women’s College World Series, Oklahoma or Texas?
