I want to share with you the Cognitive Science Society’s latest outreach opportunity, the CogSci Mind Challenge.
https://lnkd.in/dTK59vGj
The CogSci Mind Challenge is a competition that challenges cognitive scientists to address a thought-provoking question in Cognitive Science for an audience of non-experts, particularly high school and early college students. The task is to create a 5-minute video answering the question, "Why are there so many languages in the world?" The video should communicate cognitive science concepts in an engaging manner for students unfamiliar with Cognitive Science. Video content should reflect the interdisciplinary nature of Cognitive Science (which spans Artificial Intelligence, Linguistics, Anthropology, Psychology, Education, Neuroscience, and Philosophy) and not be limited to a single discipline (i.e. linguistics). The first-place winner will receive $1000, the second-place winner will receive $500, and the third-place winner will receive $250. These winning videos will also be featured on the CSS website and YouTube channel. You can learn more about this opportunity at our website where you can also find links to last year's winning videos.
We encourage submissions from people with diverse backgrounds and perspectives and for this contest to reflect the Cognitive Science Society's core values of interdisciplinary breadth and inclusiveness. Consider sharing this opportunity with others who have a passion for Cognitive Science, including faculty, graduate students, senior undergraduates, people in industry, etc.
Submission deadline September 27th at 11:59 pm EST
