Our research awarded by U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) at Thomas J. Watson College of Engineering and Applied Science, Binghamton University's Mechanical Engineering Department - Binghamton University led by Dr. Cosan Daskiran has found a more energy efficient way to produce drinkable water from sea water using ocean tidal energy through an integrated tidal desalination system. It can be a prospective solution of clean water supply for drinking and agricultural usage in areas affected by natural disasters or remote communities lacking access to drinkable water or electricity grid. Read more in the following article published in Binghamton University's website 👇👇 #cleanenergy #renewableenergy #desalination #doe #naturalresources #fluiddynamics #water
Our recent project awarded by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is highlighted in an article on Binghamton University's website. I’m happy to share that I’ve just completed APA Group's Engineering for New Energy on Forage. In the job simulation for APA's Project Development team, I: 1. Used solar PV and battery storage technology concepts to develop the scope work for a Basis of Design document. 2. Calculated the solar PV plant's installed capacity, capacity factor, and greenhouse emissions offset potential. 3. Practiced safety awareness whilst using diagnosis and resolution techniques in a hypothetical operational troubleshooting exercise. This simulation exposed me to important stages in Concept Development such as the Basis of Design and the Front End Engineering Design. It taught me important skills such as documentation, reporting, and technical reviewing.

Mechanical Engineering Student with a minor in Environmental Studies at The University of Texas at Dallas interested in the Environmental Field
Lately I have been on a journey in finding a connection with my interests of environmental/renewable energy and my degree in Mechanical Engineering. As I pass through my years of undergraduate studies and get closer to finding employment, I am educating and exploring this connection more deeply. As my journey continues, I would like to show one article from Michigan State University that opened my eyes about how these could coexist more clearly. It is something that most people don't expect a Mechanical Engineer to get into, but I would like to change that narrative. https://lnkd.in/g3ireejK

Promising solution for countries like Saudi Arabia which is both highly dependent on Desalinated water and has large deltas in elevation changes near their coasts.
Cornell engineers have refined a model that not only cultivates green energy, but also desalinates ocean water for large, drought-stricken coastal populations. “With our growing population, there are increasing energy demands and mounting freshwater needs,” said Maha Haji, assistant professor in the Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, in Cornell Engineering.

Director at SLR Consulting (formerly Vectos) - Transport Development Planning | Future Transport | Electric and Autonomous Vehicle Consultancy
Another great example of SLR Consulting's support for the EV transition, ranging from our geotechnical & land quality assessments to detailed charger demand / utilisation forecasting, fleet transition advice, civil engineering design, environmental resilience consultancy, acoustics, ecology and, critically, utilities capacity. #EVCharging #EVadvisory #ESG ITPEnergised (part of SLR)
As part of Motor Fuel Group’s ongoing energy transition, SLR is pleased to have been working with them on the installation of electrical vehicle charging infrastructure, which will support the UK’s Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) mandate, published in September 2023. Field engineer Stephanie Gage took the below photo while working with MFG at its East Grinstead site. SLR’s role on the project was to validate removal of legacy underground fuel tanks and pipework to allow installation of EV charging facilities and replacement fuel infrastructure with secondary containment and state of the art wetstock monitoring. The project will see MFG convert another conventional petrol filling station to a dual fuel service station with EV charging hub. SLR continues to provide services across a range of disciplines, from land quality to ecology, and civil engineering to acoustics, for clients at the forefront of road vehicle energy transition.
