Article 31 reteiterates the #RighttoPlay...So what stops us? WHAT IS THE RIGHT TO PLAY ACT? The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child's Article 31 states the following: “States Parties recognize the right of the child to rest and leisure, to engage in play and recreational activities appropriate to the age of the child and to participate freely in cultural life and the arts. #play IS FUNDAMENTAL- NOT EXTRA! The Convention recognises that free play is not an optional extra for children: it is fundamental to their physical, social, mental and emotional development and intrinsic to their health and happiness in the present moment. Article 31 of the UNCRC says that children and young people have the right to have fun in the way they want to, whether by playing sports, watching films, or doing something else entirely. They have the right to rest, too. #playmatters
